Well that was interesting. Normally I don't like to hear anyone cover the Police but that was pretty decent and conveyed respect for the original. It's also probably the first time I ever heard of a rock star complaining about girls taking their tops off but he does have a point about education and voting but I don't see the need to make fun of the girl in front of the whole audience. Oh and I had to look up that word too. Learned lots in this thread!
The first thing that I thought after seeing that video was, “That poor girl.” The performance of one of my favorite songs was lost to me – decent as it was. I felt sick – like I needed a shower.
I do think that women (make that everyone) should educate themselves and vote responsibly. I think that a girl taking her top off at a rock concert is not classy. I think that a rock star making fun of that girl is even less classy. I think that it was downright cruel. This girl, stupid as she may be, was a big enough fan to purchase front row tickets to this concert. She gets there. She gets excited, and she is having the time of her life. Then, out of nowhere, her idol, her god destroys her. He mocks her fandom, her sexuality, and her intelligence – all in one fell swoop. The wound is public and irrevocable.
Or maybe she was stoned and doesn’t remember any of it!
