Personally, I think that Orchestralli or the Rythmatist might make this list more than Certifiable. What do you think?

Hey E, I would agree that I prefer them more, but perhaps since this is supposed to be career "defining," perhaps Certifiable is on there as it's the bookend to the Police.

Hmm, true dat.

I wish we had another concert as a bookend to the Police, because there were better ones, but there you have it.

Although I don't think his composer side is showcased (world music is represented by the Taranta and/or The Rhytmatist).

I question the inclusion of "Certifiable" as well. Though I am, obviously, partial to "The Rhythmatist" (it rawks!), and love where Stewart went with that "Orchestralli" is more representative of what he does now and who he has become. The '07-'08 Police are probably going back up on the shelf with the old soccer trophies, while he continues to wear his composer hat.

I'm glad to see Rumble Fish made the cut, but I'm with T-- seems to me The Rhythmatist should be there.

I can see where nearly all albums on the list are firsts, including first soundtrack (which maybe led to Rhythmatist), first Italian job (which maybe led to Orchestralli), first rock album in a long time, etc. Certifiable is a bit of a boggle to me, too, but as empty said, it bookends The Police, and Stewart did spend a great deal of time on it. (Also, it couldn't hurt to be pimping it a bit.)

Although from the language in the article before and after the list, it looks to me that the list was generated by Stewart himself.

Looks like that link is a teaser for a current interview with Stewart in Rhythm Magazine, wherein he discusses his selections...also: "The ever-honest Stewart Copeland takes no prisoners in his frank interview about settling old scores and writing new film scores ..." But when you go to http://www.rhythmmag.co.uk to look for the article, to paraphrase The Zombies, "she's not there." Unfortch for those Stateside, you can buy back issues, or the March issue with SC on the cover, but they'll only mail to Europe or the UK.

Maybe somebody has linked it up already and my tiny brain has yet to comprehend. That said, I can't believe nobody has yet pasted the money quote:

Yeah, I picked up on that, too, but that doesn't mean we have to agree.
I think he's WRONG!! I'm not going around with "Certifiable" on my back. I've got a Rhythmatist T-shirt!

This way there is room for KK, Orchestralli (I think Oysterhead should definitely stay, sorry Amy, because jam bands is something that Stewart has started tackling in that occasion, and because they ROCK!), The Rhytmatist and ES (as a filmographer, other field of artistic expression that Stewart has explored before and that had an important part in preparing the field, consciously or unconsciously, for the Police reunion).

Though, DM, if you think he wrote it himself, maybe that is his opinion (Certifiable excluded).

I'm not sure why a defining moment has to be an entire album. Would be more fun - and probably more inclusive - if it was a song, or a performance captured on video or audio.
