Nutters: Check out latest T-Shirt Design pls

Postby samburusunset on 16 Feb 2009 15:30

Yo Nutters!

The polls are closed. All the precints have reported in.
We're going to be walking as the Nutters For Life in the Melanoma International Foundation's Safe From The Sun walk on April 5 at Villa Nova University in Philly.

I'm going to register us today. As has been previously mentioned, they are having a T-shirt contest this year. We can start working on that *right now*! So, PLEASE start tossing out those ideas for graphics and designs. Betsy (Policerule) is going to ask her BIL to make the shirts and she'll have details regarding pricing, etc. But, in the meantime, please start tossing ideas out on the table. I know we've got quite a few talented and creative folks here, so even if you can't walk with us, please toss 'em. It's for a good cause.

Thanks :D

first a side note...I just clicked on their website and last update was on my birthday....

Ok as far as some ideas
If doing a long sleeve ditty:

One sleeve For Laurie and those still fighting...

Other Sleeve, in memory of "Leroy Coolbreeze 3"
Front of shirt...Team name "Nutters for life"
Back of Shirt a beach umbrella and some shades, bag, beach ball, a few bottles of sunblock, towel, hat, and the sun shining off to one side.

Safe from the sun walk
Villa Nova University, Philadelphia
April 5 2009 on a surfboard.

Ok I hope that is not too cheesy. I just thought of it.

Reminders of things people should do when they are out in sun, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses..you know.

A couple of notions...

1. Something with the Stewart on a horse logo, but with the umbrella open, protecting the rider from the sun. White on a green field (shirt), with yellow rays that fall all around, but not on the rider.

2. Something that pay homage to the FBI logo, but with NFL on it. (You can find an image of the logo in Wild Thing.)

Some good stuff there. I like the umbrella.
Ooooh ooooh! How 'bout something playing off of "It's a big enough umbrella...?" Dunno if there would be any copyright issues with that or not.

Maybe a caricature of our Miss Laurie somewhere.

We also need to think of fonts, etc for "Nutters For Life."

Is anyone good at sketching or drawing? (I can't even do decent stick figures.)

Yeah, that is a great idea Chatchka... that is what I was thinking too. something along the lines of sunlight falling around but not on person, logo, whatever we come up with. Keeping Safe from the sun.

Ungh. As much as I can do realist painting, I absolutely suck at and cannot do more cartoon/line/graphic-style art. Just not my style and abilities at all.

But I know a couple people who can do it amazingly well (like Highway Joe & edgyspice, if they're ever still around here...) I can pimp them to check out this thread and see if they can come up with any ideas...

I know of 2 kids who are decent artists who I can run this by and see what they can come up with.

My son and his cousin who is 14...not to be biased...they can draw pretty good. My son has a great eye for 3D and his cousin is an art student and has created some pretty good stuff, does oil and acrylic painting, charcoal sketches, ect.

keep those ideas coming.

The rhythmatist logo with "remember your hat" written under it.

In Australia the old drill was "slip, slop slap"

Slip on a top
Slop on some sun screen
Slap on a hat

It was later extended to Seek shade and Slide on some sunglasses, which hasn't really caught on.

Interesting idea, Dave. We could come up with a catchy slogan.
We're Nutters for sun safety or something like that.

We need some more brainstorming......

To show you were my mind is wandering these days, I keep thinking the thread title reads "Help design "Nutters For Life" T-Shirt 4 MILF walk" even though I know damn what it really says.

Weird because I'm in England, but I remember this "Slip, Slop, Slap" slogan too. It was ages ago and I can't remember whether it was a public safety thing or a Breakfast TV campaign. It was short and catchy though and maybe the first time us Brits had started to think about safety in the sun.
Great idea to have some such slogan on the shirts I think, but if everyone keeps coming up with ideas you're going to need;

'Considerably bigger shirts'
