OT: Ticketmaster through me out. Grrrrrr.

Ticketmaster blocked me after half an hour of intense looking for good Madonna-tickets.
Does anybody have experience with this? How long am I blocked? Why don't they anounce that it's possible. I thought they would use the IP-address of the computer to block you, but the other computer here in my house is also blocked. Strange, don't you think?

And they don't tell you that you're blocked. I just get a regular "this website can not be shown".

I can't go to www.ticketmaster.co.uk, but neither can I reach www.ticketmaster.nl....
So even if I wanted to buy tickets for another artist: that's not possible for me right now.

Well Yumiko, I don't know why. I guess they want you to buy the first pair of tickets they offer you. When you give them back too many times, they just block you from buying tickets.
Maybe it's because they don't want me to use the system that intensive, because it may be overloaded. But hey: the system is there to use, isn't it?

Yes I'm oké, thank you for asking. I will get tickets one way or another.....

Maud, you were probably in place to recieve primo tickets, but then got locked out so they could keep those for themselves to gouge people with, through thier own subsidiary scalper company.

I really hope they get the pants sued off of them.

From memory EQ had the same problem with police tickets. They block your IP address. And OH the irony to 'stop scalpers'. Grrrr. Try a neighbor's computer?

Yeah I thought that too, so I used the other computer, but that too was blocked. I find that very strange. They don't block the IP address, but the internetconnection (?)

I will try again tomorrow.

In the interim, you might consider calling TM and trying to purchase over the phone...

Exactly - the connection is blocked, so you need to be on another connection. Sorry you're having such a difficult time. It makes me wish I was still buying U2 tickets on a dial (not push-button) phone. I think the Wembley telephone exchange died for several hours back in 1987, but it only took me 7 hours of redialling to get tickets ;-)

   We had to get up VERY early and sit outside the postoffice to buy tickets.

No, I don't wanna call them. I'm over-particular in the seats I wanna have. I'll just wait and take my chance when it gets to me.

Just so you know in the future, Maud - you can get software that blocks your IP address. You can change to a new IP whenever you like.

One I like is Netshade - but it's Macintosh only. Here's the website just so you can get an idea of how it works:

http://www.raynersoftware.com/netshade/specs.php

I'm sure someone here may have thoughts for one that works on Windows.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

Oh yes this happened to me once at work and at the same time it blocked someone else in my office! She hadn't even been ON ticketbastard that day. I eventually got in and did get a good ticket...I can't remember which show it was but I am certain it was a Police show in 2008.

Rats! This happened to me before. I think it was for Rush. (guilty grin!) I can't remember if I got back in by logging on a different computer or resetting my modem/router, but something worked. Good luck Maud!

Mmm, but how is it possible that they block all the computers on the same internetconnection? I thought all computers have their own IP address?

As far as the rest of the internet is concerned, it is looking at your router, not your pc. Hence blocking everything on the same connection.

I'm pretty sure I haven't got kicked off ticketmaster.co.uk recently so let me know if I can help with purchasing. (whizz me an email)
