OT - Great Drumming at 2009 Grammys

I'm definitely not a Grammys show kind of guy but they had some great performances featuring some guest drumming/percussion:

(1) Paul McCartney performing "Saw Her Standing There" with David Grohl on drums!!! Dave was having such a BLAST!!!

(2) Radiohead performing 15 Steps with the USC Marching Band. Shades of MIAB from MSG.

Anyone else see this? What'd ya think?

I did not catch the Grammys this year. I ususally don't watch those shows unless something incredible and amazing happens. Like in 07 :D

Glad Dave was having a fun time. Bet the USC marching band was great.
I am curious to wonder if they got the idea for the marching band from our boys last show...tee hee?

Damn, I missed radiohead. I was flipping channels all night and just flipped back in time to see Paul and Dave. I swear, Dave is the incarnation of Animal (the real Muppets Animal) on drums.

Was just about to ask for the McCartney gig. Was flying home on Frontier, which has satellite TV, but clean forgot the Grammies were last night. D'oh!

p.s. anybody know when this year's HoF nominations come out? Hubster mentioned that the Grammy memorials skipped Ron Asheton...it'll be vile if Iggy doesn't get the nod this year.

Thanks for all the updates. Now I know what to look for when I watch it on TiVo. Can’t sit through it live except for ’07, of course, when I was glued to the set!
Can’t watch Radiohead not win for House of Cards, I know they did win one but common it got beat by Girls in Their Summer Clothes Yes, I am a Bruce fan but HOC blows that song out of the water. As I tried to tell Mrs. Throb, it’s just a Beach Boys rip off…
Sorry didn’t mean to go off on a Grammy rant, as my daughter said please let me watch the Jonas Brothers and Coldplay in peace!

I missed it. Do wish I had seen McCartney and a handful of the others. They seemed to do more performances and less awards during the broadcast this year.

even thought I dont take much stock in the grammys anymore I always watch for the performances.

I thought radiohead blew it out! I DID think of the Police with the marching band drumline. It just made the whole song richer, more memorable.
I had seen them front row live but this version was so much better.
The kids did a great job.

Dave on drums:
at first I was alittle surprised i didnt think he was going to be on drums and then I thought wow he looks just like taylor! did he used to thrash his head around like that in Nirvana? Was he playing it a little fast
was he having waay too much fun? esp at the end of the song?

I also enjoyed Coldplays use of so many different drums.

Too bad green day didnt perform.

Thanks for posting. Able to see it now and enjoyed it.

The song I Saw Her Standing There has such energy still. It is also one of few songs (maybe only) that both Paul and John performed live in solo performances with John playing it in his last concert when he joined Elton John for a few songs at Madison Square Garden.
