hi everybody !
I'll be in New York again between April 27 and April 30.
Then I'll fly to Los Angeles where I'll leave on May 4.
Most definite plans are eating cheese curds at Fat Annie's every day.

So much food in NY and you want fried cheese curds.
We'll have to do something about that.

Let's go back to that fantastic bistro where we had breakfast the day after. That place was awesome.

I would recommend we stick to breakfast if we go back to that French bistro. (I'm blanking on the name of the place right now.) A small group of us including sockii, Mo, Pecos, and me went for dinner a couple months ago, and it was less than fabulous. Breakfast was much, much better.
If there's time to drag you out to Queens, D, I would love to get you and the rest of the veggie-minded out to Oneness Fountain Heart in Flushing:

We haven't been there in a few years, but they have always had consistently wonderful food, *all* vegetarian, including a veggie "duck" that is just amazing.
ETA: Oh, yeah. And yay.

I will definitely plan on being in NYC on the 29th as I know I won't have to work that day, and I may be able to schedule an overnight stay if folks want to make a couple days of it.
I'm sure we can get up to plenty of fun and mischief! I'd be happy to play artgeek guide if anyone wants to hit any museums and I know some great restaurants in all different neigborhoods...
(For French bistro I'd say Rue 57 is better than the place we went on that one meetup, but I know a lot of places in that Mid-town/Central Park South area. Also there are some tremendous Italian places on the Upper East Side I adore near and around the Met and the Frick, and of course there's always Chinatown and the Village and...I'll stop now
)

Dirty Martini: did I mention that I AM a vegetarian ?
Sockii: the only museum I saw so far was the Museum Of Natural History - and I thought it was great
I'd love to see a museum - but no modern art, please - I love the old ones: Rembrandt, Van Gogh etc. where you actually can recognize what the artist wanted to paint

A man after my own heart and passion, definitely! The Metropolitan would absolutely by my pick for a visit as they have a truly amazing collection of classical artwork.

You MUST go to the Met, you will see lots of original Van Gogh, among other masters of art.
Seurat's "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of Grande Jatte" (sp?) is there too, I nearly cried when I saw it.
Have fun!

Oh Dietmar - that's FABULOUS news. Spring in New York City - perfect. Have a wonderful, wonderful time. If you have the chance to do the free Staten Island ferry trip, wave at everything for me please. (And get Mo to take you for an eclectic beer at DBA.)

Hey Dietmar! Try to send me an email before you leave. When you're in LA we can grab lunch. LA is definitely more famous for burgers, but I'll track down a good Vegetarian spot for you...
Best,
Omaha
