Stewart on Letterman (or, The Other Way of Starring)

Hi, Stewart.

Seems that the story of Everyone Stares has wide appeal. Even if some folks aren't real big Police fans (what?) the story behind the film seems like "good panel". Have you found out if they are interested over at the Late Show?

If not as a panel guest, an alternate way to promote the DVD would be to sit-in with the band for the night (or, in this case, give Anton the night off.) The band often devotes an entire evening to one artist's songs when that artist sits-in. They occasionally do "Synchronicity II", so you know someone is a fan there somewhere.

I don't know if it really works that the guest approaches the band and asks to sit in (maybe in your case it does), but if they extended an invitation, would you do it?

Thanks,
Matt

[instead of a lot of potential "me too" or "Dave sux - Do Leno" type posts below, consider voicing your opinion via the poll. If Stewart should get around to replying, it'll be a hell of a lot easier to find.]

(You know Stewart's probably not going to have time to reply on command, right? He's a busy guy. You might have better luck trying to get hold of one of his production people with this idea...

Oh, and people probably will reply to the topic. We're a wordy bunch around here. ;))

Go on the Daily Show! Although they really only take political people now, but still that would be cool. Although they did have a comedian on the other day... so try for that, it would be better.

Or go with Conan, I like him. But what's his name, the guy before Conan... he's not funny (I don't like him).

No, go on Countdown with Keith Obermann on MSNBC. It's both real news and highly entertaining and Keith is always dead on. And I'd love to see Keith kick Bill O'Reilly's butt.

Oh geez. Stewart on Olbermann?? The very idea gives me the vapors. I already make a fool of myself cheering at everything Olbermann says on television every night...I might just pass clean out with both of 'em on. ;)

Or Colbert!! Can you imagine each of them trying to out-snark the other?? It'd be classic!

Yes, Colbert! I'd love to see Stewart's "On Notice" board...

Though Letterman can be cool. I used to always watch when he had Warren Zevon do a guest stint with the band...*sigh*...those were the days...

I would like to see him on that board too, but Jon Stewart (look same name, lol) is better...

Of course, because of all the cues he plays, it'd be quite hard to substitute for Anton Fig for a night. It would have to mean two drummers.

Here's what Anton had to say about it (I know he doesn't book the artists. I just wondered if he ever made casual suggestions, and if they ever amounted to anything.)

"...some of the drummers that have played on the show double drums with me have been Tony Williams and Phil Collins. I love Stewart's playing and would be honoured to have him on the show..."

Ok. Hard to believe no one ever made this happen. Someone asleep somewhere? Do I have to book this myself?

Mmmm, just a few people can perceived the real value of a true artist...

I remember a few years ago when Stewart was in Oysterhead. They were on Conan O'Brian. I could just kick myself because I didn't watch it that night. :x

And didn't they never repeat the show again?

That's the one where my Dad still says, "The drummer's good, but the other two are crap." .... or something like that.

They probably reran it, but I don't watch Conan all the time so I didn't know when it was.
