How come sometimes it is spelled with a "C" and sometimes it is spelled with an "H"?

It's transliterated from the Hebrew word, so there's no true English spelling. Pretty much anything goes! (Also, if you put two Jews in a room, you usually get three opinions...so I'm guessing no one could agree on just one spelling!!)

You have to love a holiday where you can be a day late and still not miss it entirely! Happy Chanukah NancyRose and Holidarians everywhere.

(Nancy - remember, during holidays smoked salmon is a vegetable.)

Heh, how 'bout brisket?? Maybe with enough potato latkes it would all balance out??

Jeesh, ever notice there are no holidays where it's traditional to eat salad?? What's up with that??

Not true in Southern Italy, Xmas Eve. Three salads: lettuce salad to eat with your broiled fish (no meat is eaten on Xmas eve), broccoli lemon salad, and, for the stronger stomachs, boiled cauliflower, olives and pickled veggie salad.

There is also warm chicory or escarole for those who like it. A veggiefest.

(P.S. latkas YUM! No dice this year, but when made properly, they're WOW) :P

I'm already trying to make room in my stomach for the Christmas Eve Feast of Seven Fishes.

Whoa, you do it according to the tried and true tradition!! Kudos!! Things are much simpler now that in Italy people care about their looks and weights much more...

Crap, I'm late, too.

Happy Chanukah!

You could make (stretch) a case for grass-fed, but it's preferable if it volunteered to be sacrificed. Or if it was just a mean ol' bastard.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.
