Live Nation sued by Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi is suing giant concert promoter Live Nation for trademark infringement, according to Bloomberg.com. Iommi's suit alleges that a subsidiary of the company called Signatures Network Inc. has illegally continued to sell merchandise bearing his image and the band's logo after the expiration of a licensing agreement in 2006. Signatures allegedly kept selling the merchandise, which included about 100 items of clothing, jewelry and other accessories, after Iommi sent a letter last April asking them to cease.

Iommi filed suit on Wednesday (December 17th) in U.S. District Court in New York. He is seeking damages equal to three times Signatures' profits from the merchandise, as well as a stop to all sales.

The guitarist has registered the Black Sabbath trademark in the U.S., the U.K. and the European Union.

How about U2?

I must admit I bought a few shares of Evil Nation--if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I thought, figuring if anyone can make money in 2009, it will be U2. Will sit on it and see if it all goes or if I make enough to pay for a ticket, ha ha ha.
