Hi everybody,
I recently added Andy as one of my friends on MySpace and I got back this message:
"As a display of appreciation to his fans, Andy Summers has autographed book plates for his new memoir, to be given out to the first 50 people that confirm his friend request. Books (book plate included) will be mailed out around mid-October. If you'd like to receive a copy of the book (since you’re already added), feel free to send over an email with your mailing info."
They encouraged me to pass this information around and said they currently have about 30 of the 50 books left.
Andy's MySpace page is:

Enjoy!

Ahh there were 51 when I signed it, that'll make me 52.
But Tom dosen't count, so that still makes me number 51!
And lol, he's 18.

You should sign up anyway. The person at Andy's site mentioned that for whatever reason not everyone has chosen to accept the free book!

Oh I did, I sent him a little message with my address and a little note that was like "Well it's worth a shot..."
If I get it, I know I'll have to get another copy anyways, because I won't want to ruin the signed copy! But... I really want it!

Here's the reply I got back from the person running Andy's MySpace:
"We're quickly approaching 50 friends, but there are some people who (for whatever reason) do not request a copy and only want to be added onto the friends list. I hope his fans aren't discouraged by that. So far I've only record roughly 20 addresses."

I was the first to post a comment ("Aghostino" my band:
http://www.myspace.com/aghostino) and the second friend of the list.
I've sent an e-mail for the book as soon as I received the message, but no response yet !
Hey guys

I just tried, too.
Hi, by the way! I'm still in Alaska...it's cold! About 12 C...wow!
Hope all's well. I'll be around again this week. DotD

I get a copy!
"Thank you for your support.
Of course there's an extra copy for you. A dedicated fan should deserve no less. Books (with the signed book plate) are to be mailed out in October, corresponding with the book's publication date.
Do spread the good word about the book and Andy's October book tour (check the calendar for dates and locations). In fact, go on a road trip and come to a book signing!"

I wonder if there will be a books-on-tape version as the site has Andy reading some of it. I'd rather have that verson for my hellacious commute. I'd still buy a book copy for Andy to sign in person.
Update: There's a spare one for me, too. Looks like New York on Oct 10 is the closest signing to me. Another train ride (I'm hearing the song "Train" from his Bewitched album with Robert Fripp).

I'll see you on the 10th in New York, Conroy! Looks like another fan gathering in the works.
I got an email from the myspace page that I should be getting a copy as well. Most cool. And I hope Andy does an audio book version as well because it was really neat listening to him read from the book on the site. Nice preview!

Omaha, I saw yours, so cute!
I thought Andy's birthday was in December (just barely, lol), yet it says he's a Virgo...
Yeah I hope he does an audio book too, with him reading (and if he won't then Jim Dale).
I first read the books as hard copy's, but with re-reading I love them as audio, I'm spoild with that.

Wowza. I've been out in the wilderness sans Internet and missed the audio preview. Will check that out tomorrow, after I get unpacked. I would LOVE an audio version too...who do we lobby??

I can't wait for them to ship it in mid-October. I wanna try to read it before the book signing on the 10th. I'll see you guys there!
