Just Got Andy's The X Tracks

Just Got Andy's The X Tracks

I've gone through all of Sting's stuff, I'm working on going through all of Stewart's, so I figured it was time to try Andy's.

It's really not my taste. Maybe he'll be one of thoes where I'll keep listening to it...and start to like it.

I have nearly all of Andy's solo catalog but haven't listened to much of the more recent stuff. For me, Andy's most listenable work is the out-of-print XYZ where he sings on nearly all of the tracks. If you can appreciate "Someone To Talk To," you should enjoy the album.

Oh, and I'm also partial to BEWITCHED, Andy's second album with Robert Fripp, as "Train" is one of my favorite Summers instrumentals. You can listen to album samples here:

Hey, I just discovered that GOLDEN WIRE and MYSTERIOUS BARRICADES are also out of print. These albums got a lot of acclaim back in the day.

Yeah, I'm going to try more. Just because I didn't fall in love with his stuff right away, like I did with Stewart, Sting, and The Band's stuff, dosen't mean I won't like it after giving it a better chance.

Albums with robert Fripp

Postby giovanni on 05 Aug 2006 07:38

I love both albums with Robert Fripp 'I Advance Masked' and 'Bewitched'; in both you can listen part of The Police guitar sound evolving...

To all of you not that close to Andy solo discography I would suggest the Best of, then you can judge by yourself which album would be closer to your tastes....

"Mysterious Baricades" is a great album, kind of new age, very relaxing after a hard day of working !
But my favorite one is "I Advance Masked". As Gio said, you can hear some of The Police guitar sounds and it's GRREAT !!! And Robert Fripp is one of my favorite guitarist too !!
If you like Fripp's way of playing, try some King Crimson albums (Beat, Discipline) and some of his solo works ("Exposure", "God Save The King" with his other band, The League of Gentlemen), you won't be disapointed !

Hi everyone,

Its good to be here - this is a great site dedicated to my favorite drummer SC.

For me 'Journey Through Blue Regions' from 'The Golden Wire' is one of the most amazing hypnotic pieces ever.
