OT - Anthony Bourdain in Beirut

This is the OT day! Friday, guys on vacation, laid back feeling, Savannah approaching...

But I must ask you - if you have the Travel channel - to watch this show. I am a Bourdain fan (as are EQ and Jose, I think) and have all his shows recorded, but the Beirut one is really one to watch, and not only for sentimental reasons.

I was watching it over lunch and ended up not only crying my eyes out, but also learning a lot about human beings.

I'm a fan too. Have seen that one before. I'm glad I wasn't there.

I KNEW I'd seen a thread on Tony somewhere. I'm becoming a fan of his No Reservations show lately. I watched part of the Cleveland episode today where he went to the RNR HOF. He had a hysterical quote, which in the haze of this afternoon I may be paraphrasing.

To set it up, he was finishing his cigarette outside and complaining about the lack of smoking and drinking allowed inside the HOF. Then he said something like, "Rock and Roll should not be good clean fun."

I just loved it! Had to share. Anyone read his book? Recommend?

Tony's books are very good. A good starter is Kitchen Confidential.

I love watching No Reservations. He takes things and puts interesting twists on them. He must have a cast iron stomach..some of the things he has eaten. Seems he is always at the village doctor getting something for his stomach...lol.

Better him than me I say. No way would I eat most of that stuff!!

It is great he gets to travel to all these places and experience them. Good for him. He loves his beer and smokes for sure
