How did you become

How did you become

How did you become a Stewart fan?

-started out with Sting, because I saw the Desert Rose music video (helps that I thought he was hot  )
-went to the Police
-thought Stewart was cute
-tried his stuff and liked it (it helped that I already liked the songs he wrote from The Police)
-I was also bored with Sting, which just made me delve deeper into Stewart's stuff.

What about you?

Are you talking to me?

Postby georgygirl on 19 Mar 2006 10:43

Well me, I just started to hear Police music from my New Orelans cousin.

My cousin Jenny gave me Olutlandos record, and when I saw the LP, Sting with this hair, I think he looks so strange.
Since then I don't like his image.
At Least he is not my type.
But sure I like the way he sings with Police.
But this it doesn't matter.
I remember that from Police sounds, my attention ever goes to drums, and I ever was looking who is making this drum sounds, and I find was the skinny boy Stewart.
And the lyrics of the songs, I think Stewart's are very groovy and reflects many postmodern attitudes.
And since then until now, faithfully Stewart's music lady follower...

Welp

As a kid I feel inlove with the video for "Don't Stand so Close to Me"....and I just grew up enjoying their music

A couple of months ago I saw the "Every Breath You Take" DVD for sale and figured, hey...why not? And bought it. I was watching the videos that night, and just loved watching Stewart move. He seemed so eccentric, just very...interesting and different, and became addicted, lol. I went out and bought all of The Police records simply to listen to him play, and Im still just getting deeper and deeper into it.

So I'm really knew to Stewart fandom, I have alot to learn still...hoping you guys will be my guide to a healthy road of insanity :-D

- Discovered the Police when Synchronicity topped the charts in '83-'84 when I was in eighth grade.
- Saw a one paragraph blurb in the tv guide grapevine column in the summer of '85 that announced Stewart was going to compose the score to the Equalizer tv series which sounded cool.
- Started watching the Equalizer after it premiered and got hooked thanks to Stewart's great scores, which got me reading every interview with Stewart I could and realized that he was even cooler than I originally thought and have followed his career ever since.

The birth of a Stewart fan...for life!

Postby mattbones on 20 Mar 2006 14:48

It was the single "Don't stand so close to me" that I heard on the radio as a young lad back in 1980 that got me into the Police, but being a kid just starting to play drums, Stewart was amazing! I would listen to his drum patterns like an understudy in an actors studio!
He is and still is (and always will be) my major influance to playing, although we both play entirely different music!

If you haven't heard the KK tracks yet; you should cause they're incredible. I listen to them when I go on my long walks and it makes me feel more hope and carelessness. Refreshing for the soul!

For me strange things happen when I got my KK tape.

And I got married with the man who got it for me.

Anyway, at that time, I was in love with him, as a matter of fact.
