How'd you come up with your username?

Postby Tamadude on 08 Dec 2007 05:31

There are so many unique and interesting usernames on this forum. (Not to mention users themselves! :D ) I've often tried to figure out what some of the user/nicknames mean, and how they were contrived. Some are obvious, some not.

So Copelandia, how did you come up with your usernames and what do they mean?

I'll start:

I love Tama drums. They're all I've ever played. I started playing at age 12 and had to be just like STEWART, so Tama was the obvious choice for me and I've sworn by them ever since. Oh ya and I'm also a dude. Hence Tamadude.

On your mark...set...go!

Mine is the acronym for The Other Way Of Stopping, the most underrated Police song ever.

I wasan't in the mood to be all that creative, so I went with Miss Gradenko... but that was taken.

Mine's pretty easy, I live in Arizona, two of my favorite drummers are Neil Peart and "iron" Mike Portnoy. There were so many creative Stewart/Police names, I just went a different route. However, if I would have known how much DirtyMartini "loves" Neil Peart I would have made my name..........

NEIL PEART NEIL PEART NEIL PEART NEIL PEART NEIL PEART NEIL PEART NEIL PEART NEIL PEART

Who loves ya Dirty

I've been going by "sockii" since around 1995 when I...cough...was active in A-Team fandom (runs and hides). A tribute to Murdock's talking sock puppet sidekick, Socky, but back years before there was another fan who'd gone by that name and I didn't want there to be confusion. So I added two ii's instead and it stuck--disturbingly well.

Plus, I like drinking sake and it sounds just like that.

yeah, sixteenlaps is a track thing.
On a 200 meter indoor track the two mile is a 16 lap race. I have used it as my name on a lot of boards that I have joined in the past 3 or 4 years. before that I used weird childish things.

I came up with this name when I joined EBAY in 2002. I thought "what represents me the best?" The Police, naturally. I've used it ever since....
