The Leroy Coolbreeze Fund/Melanoma International Fdtn.
Posted: 10 Oct 2007 17:56
Thanks to everyone's generosity and enthusiasm, The Leroy Coolbreeze Fund to support the Melanoma International Foundation (MIF) is about to become a reality! Those of you who've been chomping at the bit (Hi Equalizer!!) to send off a contribution can now do so by going directly to the MIF's contribution link: https://www.melanomaintl.org/donate.asp and filling out the form there. As you'll see, it's pretty straightforward. The Foundation accepts virtually all major credit cards, and is currently making arrangements to add a Pay Pal option. (Those interested in contributing through Pay Pal can do so starting next week.)
On the form, please note the field for designating whether a contribution is being made in someone's memory/honor. Entering "Leroy Coolbreeze" in that space will assure your donation is allocated to the special fund established for this project, and is included in the periodic progress reports indicating how much money has been raised in total. (Just a reminder that the only number made public here -- or anywhere, for that matter -- will refer to the TOTAL amount raised by us as a group...no individual names or contribution amount will ever be made public.) Anyone donating will be acknowledged through a letter directly from the MIF. No one from this site will be given any information about specific donors or contributions (not even DM!!) And, yes, I know I'm saying the same thing over and over but I want you all to be completely assured that your privacy and anonymity will be thoroughly respected.
I can't stress enough the COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY nature of this project. It is being created, essentially, to celebrate the incredible sense of community that has grown out of this tour, in general, and Stewart and the "lovely Green Menace," in particular. The last thing anyone wants is for a gesture of unity to turn into a competition or financial burden.
Since this project was borne of enthusiasm for "the little flag that could," you might like to see again exactly where that flag could -- and DID -- go during the past five months. Feel free to use this data in any way that inspires you! You can "adopt" the city in which you live, the place you saw your favorite show...or the one you wish you could've been at! You can shape your donation based upon the number of miles from one city to the next, round it up, round it down, double it, divide it, or totally ignore it and choose a number that feels right...you get the idea! it's all symbolic and private, so it's up to you!
