I just have to say this .....Stewart.....

Just watched the Whiskey a go go again

and all i can say OMG.....

Reading all these reports about your concerts are mind blowing

Before you started there were all those questions about how the band will be and questioned the wisdom of the band re touring after all these years..

all I can say is I think the boys have proved themselves...

I am so proud of you Stewart and Andy and Sting

I was never in doubt about my boys

We are talking about the Police for goodness sake......

I love you guys and you have made my life dream come true

Not just that, I have met so many amazing people here and in a special way Stewart you have personally touched every ones lives here by being who you are and how you have reacted to everyone.

You didn't have to point at the flag or call out anyone's name, but you did and have touched every ones heart and I thank you for that.

we love you Stewart for the man you are and who you were

I am a huge fan from the Police and the drummer from that band and discovering the man after that band and I am so amazed by what you have done.

You rock my world and so happy to be here to share the joys of what you have given too so many and to see the smile on your lips and the joy in your eyes. I know how much the Police meant to you, not personally for that is arrogant, just by what you have said and what has been written.

You have so much to be proud of, so enjoy the ride and I can not wait to see you in Melbourne, not just you but Andy and Sting as well for without them there would be no Police.

Thank you all for given me this great ride of being here.

Thanks Gio and staff

Thanks for all those new friends who I now consider family

I guess what I am saying thanks everyone for touching my life and being apart of important part of my life of bringing the joy of the Police back into my life.

I never stopped listening to the Police I just thought I would never see them alive

Dreams do come true sometimes

Yes I am emotional person and feel the need to express my self now and again and the world can read this but I am not ashamed of my feeling for Stewart and the Police.

I love this band and their music

The Police will rock my world for ever

Just keep on rocking guys

Enjoy this as much as I have

Stewart fan for ever

Jan.

I love the passion you have!!

You make me smile with the things you say.

You know that we all feel the same way, you have the passion to write it.

Now go and lie down in a cooled darkened room!!!!

Yup. What Jan said.

Does anyone else wish that they could go back to the mid-eighties, and reassure their rather deflated teenage self that 2007 would be worth the wait? That when it finally rolled around, it would be an astonishing experience shared with awesome people they hadn't met yet from upteen different countries? That they'd feel wierdly involved, vicariously enjoying the excitement of those people going to shows in distant timezones? That quite apart from the thrill of hearing that music live again, the whole magnificent flaggy, meetupy insanity would be SO MUCH FUN!!!!

(And that they should start saving NOW - oops).

I thought I was an extremely Police and Copeland fan.... Wow.

The time The Police was at his top, I knew the band, the hits and the drummer offcourse, but I (re)discovered them when I serious started playing drums.
The music was (and is!) full of reggae influences, wich is my favourite kind of music, so they took my fullest interest from that time. The songs were catchy, the singer was unique and the guitar player had some wonderful sounds.
Stewarts style of playing had a deep impact on me. He sounded so different and he had a unique drum sound. After a couple of years listening to his drumwork and other projects (The Rhythmatist, Curved Air etc.) I was wondering what kind of person he is. Then I started reading interviews from all over the years and I always had to laugh because of his colorful one liners and great humor. For example (about The Rhythmatist): "If you know where the beat is going to land, you can jump on it". Wonderful!!
I discovered also that Stewart and I have in many ways comparable ideas about playing drums and sound. Besides his humor, he had also intelligent quotes and a 'big horizon' about many things, even beside music.

What I discovered here on his website is that Stewart is also a very good writer. I enjoy his own written stories very much. I use to write in a sort of the same direct style, with the same sort of humor, but than in my own language (which is "Nederlands").

Stewart is still my biggest influence for my own drumming, without trying to copy him exactly, which is what many guys/girls do. That's cool, but I'm trying to take the main idea from his playing into my own drumming and mix it with other stuff.

Thanks for the inspiration and your contribution to music, Stew! I would like to meet you, but I'm affraid I'm not the only one.... :(

Are there more drummers on this forum? Tell me, please!

That was lovely Jan. I so understand being emotional...lmao look at me crying when I met Stewart. I am just grateful to have discovered this site, made new friends and have had the best year with my fave band and my all time favorite drummer. I had no idea what was in store back in Feb. Looking back..its so wonderful and I am truly happy. I am proud of the guys for all they have done, and especially proud of Stewart and all his accomplishments. Thank YOU Stewart. That was really sweet Jan. I totally understand.

Smudge - I'm making the trip to Philadelphia to see the Police as a present to my 16 year old self. She deserves it.

My 16 year old self is also very happy we can drink beer legally now too.

Hey Ironface! Welcome aboard. Yes, there are plenty of other drummers here. I was sorry to leave your lovely country, but I'll be back.

I keep getting that proud feeling too, like "Well, they did it..." They told us it was going to be awesome and it is. "Best band in the world" is a pretty hard title to claim, but all I know is...I've seen some amazing work out of these people.

I'm so proud of Stewart, too. Feeling like he's our big goofy penpal and then seeing him get up there and perform so magnificently night after night...how could one *not* be proud? And knowing how excited he was to do this tour...and now his devoted fan base is showing its appreciation by hauling this flag literally all over the globe...

It's enough to make you tear up a little. Sort of like I felt looking at some of those Rembrandt etchings the other day. Maybe this is a corny thing to say, but I almost feel like the transcendence of art makes the drudgery and occasional monstrosity of life on the ol' blue planet worthwhile....

Well that choked me. Yup. I know it is a huge kinda corporate juggernaut that's rolling around the globe. But somehow it doesn't feel like that to me. And I hope not for the band either. I keep using the word joyous. Nice to have so many excuses to these past months.
