Stewart's set-up

Stewart's set-up

Postby Ironface on 15 Sep 2007 19:15

Hi fans,

In the last drum magazine 'Slagwerkkrant' from the Netherlands Stewart's set-up is showed with photos made by Paiste. The Blue Sparkle Tama Starclassic drumset is also listed with sizes and so on. Slagwerkkrant says that the two tom toms above the bassdrum are 10" x 9" and 12" x 10", but I can hardly imagine that Stew plays on those power toms! Even when I take a closer look at the pictures, I can not believe it. I think it should be a 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" in my opinion. That's more logical because Stewart has a 13" x 10" tom left of him, beside the hi-hat. When the diameter of the drum goes up, the depth of the drum should be the same way, I suppose.

But maybe I have to buy a (rose) pair of glasses....

According to Tama he's using a 8x10" and a 9x13" as rack tom's + a 9x12" next to his Hi-Hat

Thank you very much! I was almost right. I have been thought about that 9" x 13" second rack tom, but I found it a little unlikely. You see, it isn't!

Nice pictures also!

Hey, I got a good one for you... upon further review of the photos, I'm noticing this little black thing with a white button on the floor to the right of Stewart's hi-hat stand, kinda sitting under his snare drum... big thank-you's to anyone who might shed some light as to what that may be... I'm kinda daydreaming that it's a little switch to toggle the delays on his hi-hat/snare on and off, but it may or may not be something quite so glamorous... anyone know?

I can personally attest to the sizes of the kit:

18x22 kick, 8x10, 9x12, 10x13, 14x16, 16x18 toms
5x14 SC snare
1 low pitch set of octabans, and the rest.... (say it with me) are here on GILLIGAN'S ISLE!!!!!!

It's connected to a 220 volt source that is wired directly to the floor beneath Sting's position onstage so when Stewart wants him to jump on the spot or scream into the mic it is just a toe tap away

The 2006 Modern Drummer DVD has an interview of Stewart and in that interview Stewart discusses briefly his use of delay. Its worth a look.
