short Hamburg summary

short Hamburg summary

Postby Dietmar on 12 Sep 2007 08:16

I came back from Hamburg late tonight and was too tired for a longer post

the flag saw Stewart:

the audience (about 30.000)

http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id ... 269&size=o

it was nowhere near sold out, but the audience was the loudest I've heard so far
it was the first time that I thought THE POLICE might come back for another encore! but they didn't... :(

the sound wasn't too good where I sat, but still very full!
same setlist as in London, nice performance, can't complain about anything.
the best I've heard / seen from Andy so far !

Sting talked a lot in German: "Wir sind die Polizei!" - "am Schlagzeug: Stewart Copeland" and many more nice tries...

at my 6th gig Sting finally wore another t-shirt: the black one

all in all another very enjoyable show. Looking forward to this day of rest and then Amsterdam !

see you there

Thanks for the report, Dietmar. (I was hoping you'd check in with a bit more news.) Congratulations on finally witnessing Sting's other t-shirt!

(Don't smite me, Stewart -- you know it's true, man.)

Travel safe and rest up, D -- you've got to pace yourself for quite a few journeys ahead. Stay well!
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Hallo Dietmar!

Thanks for your review Dietmar, I was anxiously awaiting words from you about the European leg of the tour. Having seen the first 4 shows of the tour I am envious of all the others who get to experience the band now that they've spread their wings further - especially Andy.
Hamburg needs a wake-up call! Not sold out??? Was ist das?
Have a great tour around Europe and keep us posted.
Vielen Dank!

Thanks for the report, Dietmar! I'm sure Stewart knew that the flag saw him. I'm very happy to hear about the appearance of Sting's black shirt!

I think Hamburg really loved the Police. I read all seven reviews on Sting.com and they are all great reviews! :D  :D

Well, if they truly loved the Police, they would have bought more tickets...
But we are happy with good reviews, no one has punched anyone else yet and there was some nice fresher air given the fact that the weapon of mass distruction (Sting's white tank top) had finally been changed!

Danke schoen DEITMAR!

Show not sold out...what are all these people who don't go thinking? "There'll be another tour" maybe?

there are 4 shows in Germany
I always wondered why...
they were a popular band, but not as popular as in the Netherlands or in Italy

one show in Italy?
I still can't believe this.

Stewart loves to play there.
Sting lives there.
I still have to see Rome for the 2nd time.

But the POLICE "only" play Torino :(

I did find that to be pretty strange, for all the reasons mentioned. I'd have thought at least one Rome show.

There IS an unusually long (3-day) break that week, which makes one a bit suspicious -- but that could be where the old (removed) Prague date may have been. Can't really remember.

(Although hopefully they're just going to have a bit of fun for a couple of days.)
