"truth hits" commercial

the history channel just aired a spot for a show with "truth" as the song in the advert.
i think this is the first time ever that i have heard a police song in a commercial!
anyone else ever hear one?

well a local radio station, jack fm, here in calgary has had two commercials with police songs, one was de do do do, the other was walking on the moon.

Here in Lima - Peru ....years ago were produced two TV spots...one with "Message in a bottle" and the other one with "Every little thing"... by the way the two were "jingles" not the origianl POLICE tracks 8)

I just heard Next to You being used to promote a new show in one of the networks fall line-ups. I was in another room, so unfortunately don't know which one, but I got a good chuckle!

incidentally, where did you get your avatar? I love those old 50's ads with the funny sayings. I've looked for a source before, but never seem to come across one. The only ones I can ever find are on greeting cards. There is an ADD one I simply must have!

Now, with all of the bands (including those who were "never selling out") lending their music to commercials, why not?
The guys invented their look for a Wrigley's commercial.
Sting has already sold Desert Rose, so...this might be a first for the Police, or not, but expect soon to see Payless Shoes commercials with Walking on The Moon or Reeses' ads with Peanuts...

Wait...am I hallucinating or Sting and Miles refused the permission to use Don't stand so close to me for a deodorant commercial???
I kind of remember something like that...I am not making it up!

I believe Sting took them to court - it must have been around 1982 as he refers to it in the Gateshead DVD.
to this day it is said he doesnt use any deoderant!

fridge magnets donna! novelty stores, catalogs, etc.. although, i think i got this one off of ebay.

i remember something like that too! have to research though...
i just thought it was funny that they didn't sell out until now.

Aw, I love the History Channel, so I don't mind that so much.
Also dig the Faith No More "Dirty Job" theme music to the eponymously titled production....

don't get me wrong... love the history channel, i just hope that i don't start hearing police songs all over the TV for everything from candy bars to rubbers is all.
