Up & Coming Next Generation of Police & STEWART Fans

Postby 63falcon on 30 Aug 2007 21:45

I helped raise these 2 boys for the past almost 11 years, they're now entering their early teens/pre-teens. They've had all sorts of music in their lives, but no real Police until I started playing my recordings for them these past few months. I knew 'it' was working when that became the regular request upon picking them up-with an enthusiastic "YES!!!" as the cd would start. "Any Other Day" is the favorite of one, and "it's All Right for You" plus "So Lonely" for the other. 8)
To finalize my brainwash, I got them 4/5 CD's-just need to find a copy of 'Ghost..' at Half-Price Books. Now to somehow get Klark Kent recordings.......It really is fantastic to hear there enthusiasm!!!!! :D
Any body else growing the next crop of fans?
All the very Best in Europe to Stewart/Andy/Sting and all the EuroFans!!
It's going to be a blast for all y'all, absolutely-and WAVE THAT FLAG HIGH & PROUDLY!!!!!! :) :) :)

Was watching a Police concert video from Germany the other night with my seven year old daughter. She knows which one is Stewart Copeland but has no idea who Sting is. Does not even realize there is a guy in the band name Sting. As far as she knows, the band is Stewart plus just two other guys.

Raising her right 8)

(I PROMISE to teach her who Andy is really soon.)

I hadn't been directly training my 9 year old daughter in the music of the Police, however recently she came up to me and announced that her favorite songs were "Message in a Bottle", "Too Much Information" and "Spirits in the Material World". I stood there blinking, going "huh????"

"You know. The Police, Moooom."

I'm so proud of her. Without directly shoving them down her throat, my daughter found her way to The Police. :D

My 3 yr old is mostly getting started in Stewart Copeland, she doesn't care so much for The Police, but she is loving the youtube videos of La Notte della Taranta. Of course, both of them are subliminally getting turned to the Copeland side by a healthy dose of playing Spyro.

My little godson is almost two. When I saw him last week he was wearing yellow shorts, a green t-shirt, a huge grin and was pounding on his little red toy drum. I just about died. And then silently cursed myself for not bringing my frickin' camera!

Now to find him some proper tube socks.

I live with two mini Tamas....boy 6, girl 3. (oh ya, and MamaTama, too)

The boy can tell immediately if the song he hears is the Police or not. :)

Thier favorite song is WOTM.

All I have to do is hum the first bar or two, and they both start singing the verses! :D
I don't wanna work, I just wanna bang on the drums all day.

Well, after my fellows kept hearing me go on about the concert I was going to-LouisvilleKy-I felt I should at least play something. They get a lot of Led Zepplin/Jethro Tull/Frank Sinatra/Ella Fitzgerald(all good, now) form their custodial grandfather, my ex bf. So, it just seemed like time......not REALLY brainwashing them.
And the younger one especially likes to listen for Stewart's drumming-he's even picking up on the subtle things.
If I can just get them to go for vintage Brit motorcycles over Harleys   8)
Bet wishes, parents-its not easy, but mostly worth it!

My son is 6 and daughter is 3 and they love The Police. My son likes to sing MIAB and likes Regatta and the Eyos. Erin sings the hell out of Roxanne. I actually have my daughter singing Roxanne as my ringtone..so cute. She also likes WOTM and she started to sing Synchronicity the other day. That is a huge word for a 3 year old.

My daughter 18 teen, my middle son 16 teen, (like to drum as a hobby) and my little son 10 are listening The Police since I was pregnant. They think this is familiar music.

Well, my 14 year old is not a Policefan..unfortunately. However I sometimes hear her sing some of the lyrics without her even realizing it herself. So there's hope. My youngest, five, likes the eeyoohs, but then again what 5 yearold wouldn't. The middle one, 11, keeps quiet about it, but he claims not to like any music at all. Though the boot downloading bit interests him (computer freak).
