Hi Stewart!
First of all, thanks for refering myself in your last post. As you know I never see you guys on stage, and wait anxiously for your "Latin American Tour" I mean expected you guys made one gig in my country PERU, I don't left my hopes ( the same about your 2007 reunion ) to be happen this December or January.
I am not sure if you know august 15th, a 7,9 earthquacke happened in Peru next to Lima, the experience was totally thrilled, around 2 minutes and a half of earthquacke, the feeling of surfing the ground, communications collapsed and watching strange blue lights in the sky... ( a month before milliards of UFO's were flying over downtown Lima at morning and were registered by TV)
Lima didn't suffered many damages, I think the 98% of the local infrastructure is totally safe, the National Stadium of Lima ( 50,000 capacity) and the "Monumental" Stadium of Lima (80,000 capacity ) passed the inspection and its are totally ok. The earthquacke devastation was located at "ICA" ( a peruvian state south of Lima well known by mysterious "Nazca Lines") and specially at towns of "Pisco" and "Chincha" ( those towns are wellknown by grape liquor "Pisco" the first and the second one for "CAJON" - "The Box" an afroperuvian percussion instrument I am sure you know and play) Those villages are devastated like the second world war ends... and victims needs the basic... our people, government and friend countries helps those victims with lot of aid but as you imagine any aid is enough with people without homes, water, food or medicines...
If THE POLICE, finally come to make a concert in Lima-Peru, Did you think is appropiate you will aid in some way for those poor childs or families from ICA (Pisco & Chincha)?
I know "The Police" support "Water Aid" organization, who helps and teach for the use and accessability of water in the bad called region "Third World"
The fact is that one idea coming to my mind. In the way, the main thing victims urgently needs is "PURE WATER"
What I want to propose is that all people who be the audience of (a probably) POLICE concert in Lima-Peru come to the stadium with a bottle of water (I mean bottled water)... All those bottles of water, the same as the number of audience, will be delivered to aid people of poor villages of ICA (Pisco, Chincha, Cañete), who don't have any access with potable water.
You won't see any reduction in the amount of sold concert tickets or any percentage to be donated, only people action , only fans action to help the victims. I think is a simple but effective way of action, aid into a bit of time.
All this using the same promotion of THE POLICE concert but with the adittion of a slogan: "MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE" ( sending us an S.O.S.)
In addition for knowing the real devastated situation in "Pisco" (Ica), I post two videos. Images don't need any translation:
( Part 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toWBVcK8Mf8
( Part 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1Bj-N9v59U
I repeat again "LIMA" is totally SAFE!
Didn't suffer any damages on their main infrastructure
Hope you could come to my country and delightfull peruvian fans with your incredible "Show"... and taking a time for visiting "Machu Picchu" feeling the ancient culture of the Inca's and you playing some "CAJON" ( the BOX )
"The Police" is the reunited rock band that produced more emthusiasm in Peru, according to a survey published by the most serious newspaper of Peru. "The Police" won the poll with 51% of votes.
Behind The Police, the survey found Led Zeppelin with 23%, then the spanish rock band Héroes del Silencio with 12%, Genesis with 6%, and The Who with the same percentage.
