Proper introduction - Steweirdness as promissed

Postby AnyOther on 27 Aug 2007 18:27

As I've not yet done so, I'll try to introduce myself in a couple of lines.

Been a Policefan since I was about 12. Heard them on the radio and then one day we had this party and a boy I really liked played Roxanne. He challenged everyone to lay down between two speakers and listen to Roxanne on top volume. Which I did. It's a miracle I didn't suffer noticable hearing loss. But I was hooked. So I had to save my pocketmoney to buy Outlandos and Regatta, after I bought my first, Zenyatta. I remember sitting in a crowded bus and protecting my record from scratching, breaking, bending... So far so good, nothing you people wouldn't recognise. But where did Stewart come in?

A CONFESSION...I was madly in love with Sting once and a bit scared of Stewart as he's so tall (which I am..not). Then I found IRS greatest hits on a market in Amsterdam..which featured two Klark Kent songs. From which point my love for Sting vanished in thin air. I hereby deeply apologize to all who might feel offended.

Not old enough to go to a concert, only a few clips on t.v. and a rare show (Rockpalast), it felt like a drought. Every little magazine picture was treasured and drooled over. All I could do was listen tot Klark Kent, Does everyone stare, On any other day etc. I married someone else (quite happily). And when the internet was invented and accessible I didn't even realise that he could be found there. Which is why I joined here so late. Thank you all!

Just reread my post and realised that what's steweirdness is not the fact that I was a Stewartfan back then, even though we didn't have much more than the records and an occasional radioshow (under the blankets in bed, late at night, radio tuned really quiet).

It's not the fact that it's all come back after all these years and that I smile when my 14 year old comments on an old Stewart-picture: "He's cute and kinda handsome".

No:
It's the fact that other people think it strange and unnatural for someone almost 40. That they think it strange to want to go to more than one concert and to collect every picture, boot, article. sound- an videoclip. That's what's weird, dont you think?

Yes, I used to save every magazine picture and magazine cover too. I kept them under my pillow. Kind of uncomfortable sometimes.

AnyOther.... Welcome
You are amongst friends here.
We all LOVE Stewart, either for his drumming, music or just his looks!!!!

When I first saw Sting I thought he was lovely, however then I saw Stewart and Sting sort of faded away......

You're safe here, we all have our records (well ipods now), but our tunes and if you have a spare week just read the reviews of the concerts......

You'll feel the love!!

Hi AnyOther!

We are glad that you are not scared of giant drummers anymore. They are harmless, and very good for you.
Besides, Stingo now runs 20 miles a day and could kick Stewart's ass (SC's words, not mine).

I'm not sure Stewart was conceding that Stingo could kick his ass. I think he was only saying that he (Stewart) couldn't take Stingo with one hand (as his other hand would be operating the camera).

Stingo may be flexible enought to stick his own face in his own crotch, but I'd still take Stewart in a fight over Stingo. I don't recall Stingo ever breaking Stewart's rib.

EQ, I read that quote from Stewart many, many times. It is also in Lynne Goldsmith's book, if I am not wrong...

Stewart has not drummed for several years because he was busy composing and directing. He must have worked up to get back into shape. (THANK YOU LES CLAYPOOL)!

Sting has always taken the utmost care of the things he loves most *himself.
