~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry; had to LueAnn this as it centered around a link for a song which I think may still be comercially available
There was a sampled version of EBYT that was equally ridiculous.
I do think it is a matter of Royalties (we know who gets them!) and not of artistic quality.
:cry:
Sorry, the link got f'ed up again so you'll have to cut and paste this to hear this atrocity.
What gets me about the EBYT sample song is that they sample Andy but then have a different drum track. Many people may not like how the drums on EBYT turned out on Synch, but the original is a masterpiece compared to the shite that is on the Puff Daddy version.
Also, I think that Roxanne 97 is worse as it is supposed to be a genuine Sting/Police release rather than just a song by another artist using a Police (actually just Andy) sample.
Feeling kind of bad that I started such a negative post. Guess I was just feeling annoyed by the Derangements not being released.
Easy....The Hall Of Fame 'duet' with Gwen. NO need to destroy that song in public.
Same performance, Andy's tone on Roxanne! Stop trying to sell guitars and use the Tele like you're supposed to!
Same performance, Stewart completely missed the 4th beat of the intro to MIAB.
They had a good time though!
the guys get an ABSOLUTE pass from me regarding the HOF performance as I was so happy to seem them reuinite that I might have been able to have even forgiven them if Kanye had joined them that night. When I saw that performance, I was DEAD CERTAIN that that was the last time our heroes would be playing together. Pretty pissed that I lost my VHS of that performance.
For those of you who did not see this post before it was edited, no LueAnn has not returned.
Now, don't you worry about ripping F***ing Puff Diddy off, Eq. He will have already have downed the royalties from HIS own ripoff in Crystal or Bling Bling.
I have a BIG axe to grind with rappers. Those who sample other artists' songs and sell buckets of their house music shit, should all be sued, not that they are unfamiliar with lawsuits and jail... (LAAARSSSS! Where are ya?)
Not only I don't want to hear your bootylicious pimp crap (always the same for 20 years!) on previously decent or good songs, but, unless it's a case of Aerosmith or Stevie Wonder agreeing and making a very enjoyable work out of it, you are not even deranging your OWN stuff! :x :evil:
Since this post may be deleted, maybe we should take the opportunity make confessions:
I have never listened to Sting's lute cd but I decided to keep an open mind about it if I ever did.
I hope this thread is deleted soon.
:oops:
....I don't want you to feel bad, Equa. I used to watch Studio 60 and saw Sting's episode, so I have an idea of that it's like.
If Sting was a new musician, or somebody like Bert Jansch, I would say that is a good schlocky interpretation. But you cannot be Stingo and slowly go from being the epitome of cool to the epitome of schlock. :shock:
I would not be willing to listen to the lute cd with an open mind had he not agreed to do this tour. This tour has earned Stingo some credits with the EQ that I would not have dreamed of giving him after the Mercury cd. Who knows; I might be willing to get the next Sting CD, if Vinnie is on it. <runs and hides from Kalypso wielding a chair> :shock: :lol: :wink:
(I kid you Kaly cuz I love you)
You know I LOVE my paisano Vinnie, I consider him one of the best, despite the fact that he works with questionable musicians when money is short.
One thing we should give Stingo: He Knows How To Choose Him Drummers (or, in one case, to be chosen by them).
Nothing wrong with it. I watch the Jeff Beck thing with him and Tal, and he's on splendid form. Lost way more hair than Stingo, but also a lot of weight.
Stingo's solo career was a bit of a rollercoaster for me.
Loved:
Bring on the Night
The Soul Cages
10 Summoners Tales
Indifference for
Blue Turtles
(apart from Fortress, which I loved)
Hated without redemption
Nothing Like The Sun
Mercury Rising
