Hi everyone – new member here. I joined a few weeks ago and have been lurking ever since – and just decided it was time to kill a few minutes at work and post to introduce myself to the rest of the wonderful world of Copelandia.

My name is Kathy and I live outside of Hershey, PA. I’ve been a STEWART fan since the early 80’s, when I was (gasp) 12 years old. My love affair with the Police began in 7th grade, when an unlikely trio of my classmates, naming themselves “Shadowfax”, won our Catholic grade school talent show with a rockin’ rendition of “Roxanne” (obviously, the nuns weren’t familiar with the content). I was instantly hooked and my John Schneider and David Hasselhoff posters were immediately replaced on my bedroom closet doors. Synchronicity was the first LP I ever owned.

My best friend and I started buying black T-shirts at K-mart, ripping off the sleeves, and hand painting them with red, yellow, and blue stripes. One shirt I have has the stripes painted on the front, and on the back, for some inexplicable reason, a unicorn. We would also cut out pictures from magazines and make our own pins, the $1.00 each pins at Spencer’s being too rich for our meager allowances to handle. When the Police broke up, I was understandably crushed – now I’d never get to see them perform in concert. Ever. I cried. Really!

You guys know the rest – the tour was announced, and my dream came true. I got tickets to the show in Hershey (a whopping six miles from home), and was part of the awesome pre-show tailgate, where I met many wonderful people (including samburusunset!), and saw The Flag for the first time – even if I didn’t grasp its true significance at the moment.

After the show, all in one day, I did the following:
- Bought Everyone Stares
- Bought The Rhythmatist
- Joined this site

Three things that were a long time coming.

So that’s a little bit about me. I’ve enjoyed lurking the past few weeks and getting to know everyone a little. I’m planning on going to the Philly show in November – and I’m wondering if I can throw my hat into the flag-bearer ring. I’ve vowed that if I don’t get front and center tickets I won’t go – so I should be seated in a good spot. I’d be happy to serve. And no, I’m not an asshat. Though I must admit, it would be a great fringe benefit if as a result of bearing the flag, maybe, just maybe, for one brief moment, STEWART will know that I coexist with him on this planet. Now THAT would be a dream come true!

In closing (kudos to anyone who’s made it this far) I’d like to make a little contribution to STEWART folklore:

“Stewart Copeland doesn’t blow out his birthday candles. They extinguish themselves out of fear.”

All the best,
Schmaff

Welcome! Great first post. Looking forward to more posts in the future.
(Hope that doesn't sound too much like a forum letter I issue to all new members; I'm quite sincere in my welcome) :)

Welcome Schmaffy.

John Schneider and David Hasselhoff posters? Smart move getting rid of them. I would have not only gotten rid of those posters, but the closet doors they were hung on too.

Wow, this is too bizarre!

I actually didn't perform - it was three guys. I was in heaven though. Did I know you?

I actually saw Nina at a reunion once upon a time - can't remember which one though.
