OT- Forum Statistics

Hello (hello) (hello) (hello) (hello)
Quite an echo in here today. Everyone out waiting by their mailboxes for the Anthology to arrive?

Anyway, in light of the light posting, I was just looking at the statistics for this site

This fourm has 1913 registered users.
HOWEVER, of these 1913 users, only 672 of the users have posted anything on the forum. Thus, there are 1,241 people out there who took the time to sign up but then ended up never posting.

My question is, why would you bother signing up if you did not want to post? You don't need to sign up to lurk.

PS Of the 672 users who have posted something on the forum, only 359 have made 5 or more posts.

Yup. It's REEEAALLLY SSLLLLOOOOOWW today on SC.net. Maybe it'll pick up. Maybe someone overhead something backstage (hint hint) :)

Heh- I'm #108 to join, that's interesting. I wonder how many of the pre-reunion folks that were active back then are still active today? My guess- 20-30 people max.

Hah - I was a lurker forever - I signed up because I couldn't keep my big mouth shut any longer, after they announced the reunion. I just had to talk about it with people who wouldn't think I was living in the past or going through a mid-life crisis. It was refreshing to be able to spout on and on about it without judgement!

I think a lot of people registered and waited for their registration email and didn't try to login. They also may have forgotten their password.

Makes sense. I did not realize that confirmation e-mails would not be sent out. Also, I'm always forgetting my passwords.

I think there are probably about 10 of us who have seen this board (and others) rise and fall in popularity over the last few years.

And then of course there was always the x-mission mailing list - who remembers the frenzy there when the derangements first came to light?

There is also the issue of spam accounts. They may never get approved so they don't post, but it's a P.I.A. to delete the accounts even if you know they're bogus (I have the same problems on my phpBB boards).

Yeah, that's what happened to me. I just kept waiting for that email. Finally one day I tried logging in and worked!

So then I felt Stooopeeed.

I am the only person on earth who does not own a cell phone.
Definitely NOT a phone person. I think I could have done with smoke signals...
But we are getting a Blackberry, so hubby phones and I email.

Well my parents don't have a cell phone. In fact, it's kind of amusing. They think you have to be on a cell phone to talk to someone on a cell phone, so when ever they want to call me on mine they go next door to our neighbor's house. Neither my neighbor nor my husband want to disabuse them of this notion.

subscription and statistics

Postby giovanni on 17 Aug 2007 10:40

Apologies to all of you as I know an e-mail of confirmation had to be sent (now we wrote a line stating that we don't send it).

Remember that the person working on the tech issues here is Eugenio, and he can't be as fast as you may expect; there are tons of porn websites that try in any way to get linked through their account, there are too many others unuseful websites about selling that try to get activated...
Eugenio has to check them all and cancel their request, making something that avoid them to come back (usually they come through automatic ways).

At the moment there 300 new requests that Eugenio is working at to have them activated (it will take a few days, but he will check them all).

We may not be as professional as maybe some other websites, where there are people that work on a web as their dayjob, but at the end, as many subscribers (new and old) says, this place got 'that something' that others don't have...

I'm happy 'to be on tour' soon, then I can personally meet most of you (I hope some of the US forumers will be around here as well), then we can talk about all these issues, and you can finally see and touch who's behind this place...eheheh....!

Thank you anyway for keeping this place alive!

Know more?

Postby giovanni on 17 Aug 2007 10:46

By the way...as we're talking about statistics....I can give you some more details you can't have access:

2007:

DIFFERENT VISITORS: 239.964
NUMBER OF VISITS: 415.112
PAGES: 4.574.406
ACCESSES: 28.663.979

2006 had of course a lower amount of visitors, a very good one anyway, but I can tell you that when Stewart and Gizmo toured, the numbers weren't that much different (I'm talking about June and July 2006).

Ciao ciao
