Flag-Spotting / Tear apart Toronto, STEWART!!!

Flag-Spotting / Tear apart Toronto, STEWART!!!

Postby DirtyMartini on 22 Jul 2007 15:06

I hope you had a lovely day off yesterday, Stewart.

Your day of rest is over. I'm back to screaming and Flag Reports.

BongoBoy, alex, Copelandous d'Amour, nancyrose, amaninasuitcase, and a whole bunch of other folks will be out there in full-force representing all of Copelandia tonight.

Nancyrose will be waving the Flag from the fourth row floor, stage-left/Andy's side. So be sure to tell Andy to get out of your damn way, or I'll have to instruct her to trip him (in a non-asshat fashion) like I did in Cleveland.

HAVE A BLAST IN TORONTO TONIGHT, STEWART!!!
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Nancy Rose was a star tonight - I'll let her take it from there. She did a wonderful job and it was great meeting her and others tonight.

The boys were in fine form. More from me about that after tomorrow night's show.

The flag is safe and secure with me for tomorrow. I'm not even gonna sleep with it, I swear!

I just walked in the door, and all I can say is wow! I have never seen anything so amazing in my life. What a show. I'll recount it as best I can. It wouldn't be my day if it didn't contain a couple mishaps, so I'll include them as well.

I emailed Nancyrose late in the day, but I still planned on meeting up with them at the Hard Rock. As I left home, I stopped to fill up with gas. As I was standing there grinning like a little kid, I realized that I left my ticket at home. So I had to race back and get it. Finally I was on the road. It was a great day for a drive, and I still had plenty of time to meet everyone, then I hit a traffic jam which stalled me. I finally parked at 4pm, and thought I'd just grab a cab to meet everyone. Haha no luck with that either, so I walked. I never got there until 4:30. I looked around, but I couldn't see a flag on any table, nor anyone who might look familiar. That's the only part of the day that sucked. It was great meeting people from here and AUI at the premeire of everyone stares. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. From there, I hailed a cab to take me to the ACC. I've always been a friendly sort, so since traffic was a bear I struck up a conversation with the cab driver. Boy do I know how to pick them. Within two minutes I was asked if I had accepted Jesus into my life. I could have just said yes, or changed the subject, but not this agnostic ass. I engaged him, and the closer we got, the more I grilled him with questions he couldn't answer. Hahaha, he got me there in record time, wouldn't look at me when I paid, only said something to the effect of "you better get usewd to the warm wheather" But, I digress.

It was only 5, and I had time to kill, so I walked around the stadium. I found the stage entrance, and the tour busses. I tried to act nonchalant, but I don't think security bought a second of it. So I just waited in line. The gates opened at 6:30 and I rushed in like a lunatic. First the program, then I hit the shops. One t-shirt, then another. Then I saw a stand with keychains. Well you can NEVER have enough of those. 120 bucks gone within 6 minutes. But soooo worth it. Sorry to ramble on, let's get to the show....

Nancyrose got plenty of acknowledgement for her most excellent flagmanship tonight at Toronto.
Sorry we missed Alex at the HRC. That was a good time too. Got the chance to put some Toronto germs on the flag.
The show absolutely kicked asshats and twatwaffles!
We all agreed that Stewart owned the entire stadium. Sheer brilliance.
More tomorrow. :D :D :D :D 8) 8) 8)

Fiction Plane was better than I expected. They've got some good music. I did feel for them a bit, as the place was half empty and not many in my area were paying attention. I did get a charge out of the song that said fuck all the time. The old people were quite taken aback by that song, it became my fav Fiction Plane song at that point. If I recall Sting said fuck during the concert as well, no one seemed upset anymore. I chatted with the people around me, and I thought that I might be a little more zealous than them. None of them knew anything about the tour, it was all new too them, but I knew everything that was gonna happen. So Get Up, Stand Up came on, and I was on my feet instantly. It was mere minutes till they hit the stage'

The gong......it was at this point that I realized I should have used the bathroom. The hair on the back of my neck was standing, and it felt like an hour had passed before I heard Andy's guitar. But as soon as he started, the place went nuts. All I could do was laugh, finally after all these years, and it was so worth it. Every person was standing, singing shouting. Sting did not have to work up the audience tonight. We were more than ready. The song ended so fast. And then Syncronicity 2. Endorphins were rushing through my brain at a pace that could kill a small animal I think. After the second song Sting did his Toronto thing. Hello Toronto! Then he mentioned not being to a picnic in years. The crowd ate it up.

They played Walking On The Moon next. I'm probably making something out of nothing here, but Sting gave a thumbs down to Stewart during the song, looking to slow it down. For the rest of that song Stewart looked like a rebel. He looked a little angry, and played the song faster. That might easily be just me though. Driven was the 5th song? And that was the first time anyone sat down, maybe 20% of the crowd. I found that weird, because that's when the show really started to take off.

DSSCTO was exceptional tonight. The chorus was slightly slower than before. And while I'm on the topic of dissed songs by the media. Truth hits was also awesome. It had a ton of raw energy. I loved wrapped because of Stewart stealing the spotlight with him working a different part of the stage, and the crowd roared in approval as well. Oh backtracking to Driven. What makes this the point when the show becomes amazing. When Andy did his solo, the crowd went nuts, and rightly so. But what I have heard in the past is that those solos allow Andy to steal the show. Stewart and Sting were having none of that tonight. It was almost as if Andy pulled off a stunning solo, and Stewart said, I don't think so, and would put together a masterpiece of his own. Then Sting would do the exact same. They did this to each other all night. A perfect example of how an ego should work. One more post, sorry to drag on...
