after seeing the show in philly last night, getting a few hours of sleep, working today and driving my brother around after work when i should be sleeping, i get a call from an old friend....
"betsy, pick up! i'm in hershey at the police concert and i have an extra ticket!" i pick up the phone and call her back. her husband bailed. she tells me that she of course thought of me first and i'm thinking - this information would have been great 2 hours ago! i am roughly an hour away if doing 80 miles an hour or 2 hours with traffic. the police go on in less than 2 hours. i am exhausted from little sleep and still hungover. going to this show would mean that i would have to drive another 2-4 hours total this evening again and i don't think i'll make it. so i tell her "no", but can't seem to hang up the phone... i jabber on a little bit going "well, maybe" and "oh, i don't know if i can make it" and finally settle on "no" again. i'm sitting here just disgusted with myself.
ok... let the "are you nuts?!?!?!?"" begin...

Admit it. You were mad that they did not play any lute songs the other night so you just want to stay home all night listening to lute. Lute that is slowed down and in a lower key.

It sucks, but you made the right decision, PRule. Better not to hurt yourself or anyone else.

you see... i am consoling myself with the fact that i am going next friday and the following wednesday - both floor seats.
if i had someone to drive me home, i would sprint down there in a second - i know i would fall asleep on the ride home. and - truth be told, i haven't even showered since last night! i feel like i would be going to a grateful dead show in the state i'm in!

Besides, PRule -- you can't die in an unfortunate hangover-induced pile-up just yet. You have to sign The Flag first.

You did the right thing, for yourself and the other people on the road. Having tickets for upcoming shows, I am sure, makes this easier to handle, too!

gosh... you guys are so fabulous... if i wasn't so tired, i'd cry.
although, i know it will still be nagging me all night!
i really should tear myself away from the computer and shower, i really want to see if there is any news on the hershey thread.
i told my friend to look for the flag and people wearing tube socks. she is instructed to give them hugs and kneel before the flag.
