Has anyone else heard the instrumental version of 'Big Time' by Peter Gabriel? That shoulds like our boy on the drums!! I'm sure of it....nobody plays the hi-hats like that.
A friend passed on to me a massive collection of PG's rarities which is where this is from. I googled for it, but it appears that it was a fan who put this collection together up on torrent. Fucking brilliant if you can find it, and if you can't....let me know and I'll try to figure out how to get it up somewhere where you all can enjoy it....

Yes, that is Stew behind the kit. He's on the regular studio album version as well, as well as being listed in the credits. He played the hi-hat on the song Red Rain found on the same release.

I know the song by heart. It is on So, and that is obviously the reason I bought the record, which is actually one of the finest of the 80s.

Actually no, I didn't. I was not into singles at the time (after the 6 pack, what else could you get?)
Maybe the track it's on iTunes.

Howstupidmrbates clearly is getting what I'm saying, Kalypso...check this out. I've known that Stewart played on So since '86 or so. What I didn't know was that there was an *instrumental version* of 'Big Time' where our main man is playing the WHOLE KIT. I was *very* pleasantly surprised to hear this track for the first time late last night. It definitely woke me the hell up!!
Yo dontboxmein....that is a GREAT track. Was it you who first posted about it a while ago? If so, THANK YOU, because that was what I was looking for when I found this 'Rarities' collection......the instrumental version of Big Time was a FANTABULOUS bonus find for me. I literally said 'Booya' after I heard it...

Heey DUUUUUDE!!!
Nice to see your familiar avatar...Yes the surprise was great, and listening to the track again even better. Now I collected records like crazy in the 80s and 90s, I had to have every single thing. Then I realize it was OCD and gave up completely. I had a Police collection that was my pride and joy, and who knows where it is now...
But long live music in every shape, form and media that comes to us!

True dat....I also recently acquired DVD's copies of 'Around the World', television broadcasts of the Police live in Mexico from 1980, live in Japan from '81, the rock goes to college and muskiladen broadcasts from '79 in London and Germany respectively. It's been like a Police Christmas around here....at least for me anyways. My housemates like the Police, it's just that *I'm* the crazy one....

Sell? No. If I can figure out how to copy the thing, I'll just go the free route....most of this is just copies of old TV broadcasts, and I'm against profiting on that. Power to the people!! I just inherited the computer I'm on at home, so I'm not sure of all it's capabilities yet....

Damn, I love this forum. I ignore the thread about "Insturmental of Big Time" which on any other forum in the world, I'd be all over, it's just there's just so much interesting chatter on here.
Anywho, I have got to get back to collecting singles again, because I can see there is a lot I'm missing. Peter Gabriel was one of my other teen obsessions, along with the Police and U2. I knew there was a brief convergence of Stewart playing on Red Rain, I guess I hadn't realized the extent of his work on those sessions. Thank you all for enlighteining me. I love it when this stuff comes together.
