STEWART COPELAND

Hi everyone,

I'm a year-and-a-half forum lurker, prompted to join the party in the throes of being reminded of how much joy Stewart's music has brought to my life after the Chicago concerts last week. I'm kinda like the woman who wrote that Palm Beach Post blog earlier this week; the combination of creativity and musical virtuosity with "hot punk love" means I've had a monster crush on Stewart since I was 15 in 1980. I went through a lull in the mid-90s where there wasn't much joy in music for me, and it feels great to retrieve and build on that joy with both old and new creations. It's great to find a community that has the wit and humor that you all do too!

I owe Gio and Eugenio massive thanks for activating my membership; I originally registered earlier this week, and after I emailed Gio today he actually phoned Eugenio on vacation and had him go through the user signups. Thanks for being so generous!

Oh, I'm currently listening to the new Interpol album (given the Police tour I find their song "There's No I In Threesome" a wee bit ironic ...), I love the flag and tube socks memes, I am toying with the idea of going to Boston for the 11 November show, and I think Snape, Hagrid, and Ron will buy it, but Harry won't. And I'm glad that we all have such a great set of reasons to gather here.

Thanks for your kind welcome! In addition to the Cubs jersey, which was a thrilling and classy touch, I like that the lighting scheme is green, my favorite color ... guess what color stripes I have on my tube socks?

Nice avatar Lynn. If you relied on ThePolice.com, you might not think Stewart played at the Chicago shows. They recently put up 13 pics from the Wrigley shows and only one of them has Stewart in it (you can just see his head in a shot of all three of them).

Believe me, in the park and on the big screens he was EVERYWHERE, and I could tell that there were others than just me who were hootin' and hollerin' and yellin' his name.

I thought the camerawork was great. Our seats were right behind the Cubs dugout (which, coincidentally, is where I've sat for the past couple of games I've attended), so the screens were a huge help. I'm so geeky that for one of the Synchronicity shows I attended I got tickets behind the stage so I could watch Stewart; given where our seats were here and the stage configuration I'd have been PO'd without the screens.

It also didn't hurt that I live 5 blocks from Wrigley, so didn't have to drive or park or take the el. One of the most enjoyable and hassle-free concert experiences ever.
