STEWART COPELAND

On this forum, you see people saying they wish the guys would record a new album? Does anyone really think that is a good idea? After what happened while recording Ghost and Synch, and Sting used to being in total control as a solo artist for 20+ years, does anyone think the Police can really make a truly group album anymore?

I'm not sure Stewart and Andy want to relive the nightmare of recording with Sting again. A new album would only sour the tremendous positive of this tour. After this tour, none of them will need the money, and Stewart and Andy will be able to express themselves more fully on their own.

Why would Andy want to record a Police album again when he makes such amazing albums on his own where he can play with almost anyone he wants (Robert Fripp, Ginger Baker, Chad Wackerman, Tony Levin, Peter Erskine, and so on and so on)? Honestly, I would be more excited to hear Copeland record with Oysterhead again than on a new Police album, as Trey and Les encourage Stewart to be Stewart while Sting has shown nothing but a desire to stifle Stewart unless it serves to make Sting look better.

A new Police album is a nice fantasy, but its not '77 anymore. This subject makes me think of the last line of Fitzgerald's short story "The Sensible Thing": "Well, let it pass, he though; April is over, April is over. There are all kinds of love in the world, but never the same love twice."

Can't claim to disagree with you, EQ. Only way I'd want to hear new stuff is if it were a true Police record, and I have my doubts as to whether that's possible these days.

Your subject line asks if we would want it, but your post runs through the reasons why they wouldn't do it...If they decide to cut a record, and want to, I sure as all hell want to hear it!!!

I want The Police to do what they want to do. And I want to see The Police do what they want to do. So I want to see The Police want to do what they want to do and do it. Er, too.

It would end up Stingified, so ehh. I want another one like Outlandos and Reggatta, but that would never happen.

I would LOVE another Oysterhead album and tour, hint, hint.

They still have that "thing," whatever it is when a band catches lightning in a bottle and becomes "greater than the sum of its parts" and all that stuff. It sure seems like they could create something fantastic. What pressure would there be? They're so good, they'd really, really have to go out of their way to mess up their legacy or something. I'd buy a new Police album immediately. These guys are definitely not "beating a dead horse" here. I think they have more to say! Amazing..... (emoticon choir agrees)

I would love to see another album, if that's what they want to do. If everyone's on board, then, yeah, I'm totally interested in a new album. But I don't want to see them doing it because they feel obligated to the fans to do it.

Oh, and DM, de do do do de da da da?

I don't feel that they HAVE to do anything...old sound, new sound, Stingifyied....whatever.

I bought an Animal Logic CD and enjoyed it for the drumming...and I really do not enjoy those songs and the singer, but I still don't just block it out. I would have missed out on some good playing.

I still think The Police sound great I really have no idea why everyone keeps saying they sound like Sting solo?

I watched Driven to Tears again....seemed pretty damn smokin Policeifyied to me?
