STEWART COPELAND

I just noticed a photo in which Stewart is wearing a pin that says "F@ck Iran" and one that says "Pure Pop for Past People" (a reference to a Nick Lowe album called "Pure Pop for Now People.")

Boy, I'd like to know the story there. Someday we may hear it.

Honestly, I think that may still be the general concensus.

Apparently, Stew's dad was working behind the scenes with the efforts to attempt to rescue the hostages:

Yeah, Stew's dad was CIA. That's always troubled me, I must say. Not their biggest fan. However, working behind the scenes to get the hostages freed. That's awesome. I never knew that. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, it was 1979. I remember my friend's dad put his fist down in a plate of peas saying we should just nuke them all right now.

Yeah, i'd say more than likely that hostage thing that was happening. I remember a classmate in 5th grade at the time (he was a hoodlum even then) got sent home for wearing a shirt that said 'Hey Iran!' with a picture of Mickey Mouse flipping the bird.

What? It's no secret (at least, now) that Mr. Copeland was a serious, high-level intelligence guy, for decades. And those guys are involved in some nasty business. It comes with the gig.

No matter what your feelings are on the CIA or Mr. Copeland's activities (like, helping put Saddam Hussein in power, and putting the steps in motion to get the Bush regime running the country), I've never judged a man by the actions of their relatives. I look at Stewart as a great drummer and a seemingly very cool person.

I'm glad no one makes judgements about me via my Dad, who's still a great guy and a good Grandpa to my son, but not very much like me as a person. Ya know?

Oh, no -- I wouldn't expect anyone to see Stewart in light of his father or anyone else. I wasn't even thinking much in terms of Stewart's father either. I didn't know the guy. I have no opinion.

I was just thinking in terms of the last politics thread that needed to be defused with liberal amounts of profanity and -- if I remember correctly -- something about sex with barnyard animals at one point. Just hope to see things remain civil is all. The animals need a break.
