Police Ticket - $14.00

Police Ticket - $14.00

Postby Dallas on 06 Jul 2007 14:34

I was cleaning out my garage last night and I came across an old box of stuff.

I found my ticket stub from when I saw The Police in 1983 during the Synchronicity tour.

Monday, Nov. 14, 1983

Reunion Arena
Dallas, Texas

upper deck seating.... cost of the ticket

$14.00

Brought back some memories..... who would have guessed 24 years later would be the next time I saw them and I would be paying $225.00 for a ticket.

Ok, wow. Ticket prices really have gone up. Upper deck seating at Excel was fifty plus fees. T-shirts, though. Those always were a huge rip-off and still are. (And yet, I must have them!)

The 1983 show here in LA was something like $25 for general admission (back when they had general admission tix so kids could trample each other getting into a venue).

And yeah, I was happy to pay ten times that amount in 2007. Ah well. C'est la vie.

Although isn't upper deck seating now $50? Which means the price has only tripled (approximately).
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

It brought back memories. It was the first real rock concert that I ever went to.

I watched the "Synchronicity" concert filmed in at The Omni in Atlanta in 1983 on DVD this weekend!

That was such a great concert.... from Sting's multi-colored post modern jacket with a tail, to Andy's red jacket... to Stewart's white tennis shorts, tube socks and white t-shirt with the sleeves cut off.

They all looked like they were having so much fun during the show.

On a side note, if you watch Stewart's Everyone Stares documentary... listen to it with the commentary on.

He talks to Andy about how so many people ask him about the shorts.

His commentary through out is brilliant.

I'll bet that was a great show. Reunion Arena is, or was, a great place to see a show. Not a bad seat in the house, and I remember the sound was always fantastic in there too. I miss going there. Better concerts, better hockey games.

I loved their commentary, it really made so many things make sense for me after years and years of wondering! The first time I'd seen Stewart's Super 8 footage was on 'Outlandos to Synchronicities' and I'd always wondered firstly, where the rest of it was and wouldn't it be amazing to see it all (if only I had known!) and secondly, what the hell was going on in quite a few bits.

In 1983 my ticket 17.50 but spending my 87.50 or whatever it was for my tickets in 2007 worth it. If I had 200 to spend I would have...trust me. Can't complain my seats were good. Got fantastic view of Stewart. Watching him play, my arms and legs started going uncontrollably and hurt for a week after the show was over. Ugh. LMAO.
