Looking for the green checkerboard shirt

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 05 Jul 2007 17:29

Hey folks, I just posted this in the Wrigley thread, but anybody who buys me a green checkerboard Police shirt in XL (NOT the ladies size, the regular) will not only receive my enduring friendship but a money order through Paypal covering the outlay and some extra for shipping.

I had planned on buying it through the website, but just looked and they've removed it.

Help a sista out, willya? I'm going to Louisville on the 14th, but just my luck they'll be out by the time I get there.

As I posted on the merch thread earlier today, I hate to say, I didn't see it Minneapolis. They had a unisex one, but no ladies fit even on offer, let alone sold out. Too bad, I'm kicking myself on that.

I hate Unisex t's but if you are willing to get one just because the green will look sooo awesome with your tube sox, then you may be in luck.

I don't want the ladies fit one...I can get into those, but they're vulgar-looking on my, er, womanly attributes. Going for the unisex XL one.

I was going to get it too. But now I'm getting the Sold Out shirt, and maybe that hoodie.

IMHO the hoodie is waaay overpriced. A hoody should be under a hundred, even one as cool as that. It's the same sort of fake over-priced "DIY" look as the badge shirt. If you want a DIY police hoody, you could get an old police t-shirt on Ebay and make it yourself, or find someone who does DIY to do it, for like half the price. I am making myself a military jacket like the one on sale. DIY was an awesome punk movement, and I hate that it's been hijacked like this.

(Old Police shirts are going for $100+ on Ebay...just sayin')

I'm still working on knitting a GiTM bag. Hell, I'll have it ready for the second leg of the North American tour. ;)

The hoodie is under a hundred, including shipping. Although it is still over priced... but it's so cool! I wish it was a pull over. I'll prob end up just getting the Sold Out shirt.

i concur. DIY needs to be done well. I have had good luck finding folks on Ebay. They do custom orders sometimes. Also RAG in San Francisco has a list DIY people in other states. They have to have some talent to get into that pool.

I really have to alter the shirts a bit to get them to fit right...I'm kinda anime character-ish so t-shirts don't ever really fit right...so I alter them myself, which is great since I have some old shirts that I couldn't really wear anymore and so I have been fixing them up...but we're just talking basic sewing skills, not anything requiring any talent like designing, styling etc.

I'm just waiting for sewing yer own clothes to be cool again, LOL, I'm like the only person under 60 in the fabric and sewing shops (and I don't mean over 60 isn't cool, either) I frequent and people seem to get a kick out of the fact that I sew (and I mean for myself, it's not unusual for those aspiring to be professional designers), with comments like "you don't see young ladies your age sewing much anymore!" and the like...but, lol, bless their sweet hearts! I suppose it's strange for someone like me to sew clothes for themselves <grin>

Do you have really, really big eyes? Does the background flash painfully when you walk by Gina? Just gotta know.

I never thought about getting a unisex shirt and having it altered. That would be good. Maybe if I get to another show, I'll do that....

Heh, I don't get to see my own background usually, but maybe! Eyes are about as big as they can be when Stewart's on stage, & plus my hair goes down past my skirt hem sometimes! and I have cat-like superpowers!...<grin> MMMMMEEEEEOOOOOOOOWWW!

Sewing your own clothes is cool. You are just way ahead of the curve in your area. I was at a fabric store in the Twin Cities last year around Christmas (always the busiest time) and there were loads of teenagers in there buying fabric from the remnant bins. The DIY thing is pretty big here among the cool kids in most schools. I have a friend whose eight year old daughter makes all her own clothes recycling them out of other things. She goes to a Quaker school so they learn the mad sewing skillz in class and she's already designing at age 8.

I sew a bit too. Because I love my vintage so much I sometimes make things from old patterns, plus I tend to have to alter the genuine vintage stuff - 50's ladies were WAY curvier than i could ever dream of being - bit like Gina ;)

And just so you all know how awesome Dive is, do you know that she donated her ladies green checkerboard to a slightly less womanly featured Londoner?! Seriously, what a woman. (And I don't know who in hell decided that that size is an XL...)
