LiveEarth start time for The Police?

Does anyone have any clue what time (approximately, I'm sure) The Police are scheduled to appear at LiveEarth?

I need to set my dvdr tomorrow morning before I head out of town for the weekend, just wondering what sort of block I should try to record (of course, that's hoping/assuming we'll see their performance during the tv broadcast...)

No one seems to know. Live Earth won't post a schedule.

Check out the Chevy Concert Countdown. Maybe that will help.

Here's the best info I can find, at least on U.S. broadcasts. I'm going to probably set my recorder on Bravo from 6pm-2am and hope for the best...

NBC will have three hours of primetime coverage, live and taped, from Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday night. It will be hosted by Ann Curry and Carson Daly and feature some of the day's highlights from around the world as well as live performances by the Police and others. Curry already has begun her co-host duties, interviewing New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg about his plans for a greener Big Apple.

She said that the concert arrives at a particularly momentous time.

"This has been the year where I think the world has come to a kind of reckoning that there may be some validity to all of this discussion about climate change," Curry said. "It's come around to the idea that maybe we should take this seriously."

But there's also the concert to cover, and she's looking forward to seeing the Police and John Mayer and interviewing Sting and his wife, Trudi Styler. "I'm going to relish that," she said.

Meanwhile, Bravo will carry 18 hours of the U.S. concert and highlights from the others live from a feed specially created by Wall and his producers for the American market. Bravo's coverage runs from 8 a.m. EDT Saturday to 2 a.m. EDT Sunday. Sundance Channel and Universal HD plan 22 hours of live coverage from 4 a.m. EDT -- when Live Earth kicks off in Sydney -- through 2 a.m. EDT Sunday. CNBC has seven hours beginning 7 p.m. Saturday. MSNBC will have live reports from New York and London throughout the day.

The show starts at either 2 pm or 2:30, but after that, who the hell knows.

They're doing the typical, annoying "if we don't tell them, then they have to show up early and stay the whole day thing." Yeah, good luck with that.

Which means they're pretty much guaranteed to have a mass of folks showing up all at once around 6-7 pm.

I read in my paper that Bon Jovi & The Police are headlining the New York date. I know who I got money on.

So what time does the show finish anyone please? I'm five hours behind you guys, so will be good to come home to after a day on the lash.

Cheers

Sorry, 1 pm. Visions is right.

Jeesh. I have a ticket on the bookshelf, and I don't even know.

Concert is scheduled to start at 2:30pm, not 1 (despite the time listed on the ticket). I'm going to have a really hard time staying at the show from 2:30 until 11pm or so (especially with Kelly Clarkson, etc.), just waiting for The Police to come on. Common sense would typically suggest that they would come on at night at some point. However, assuming The Police portion of the festival might want to be shown internationally, I'm obviously concerned that they may come on earlier and I would miss them if I wait until evening to show up.

Thanks, jerseyjonathan. That explains why I was so confused. Glad to know I wasn't just stupid.

Welcome, btw!

I'm bummed that the complete concert will be on Bravo and Sundance, two channels I don't get. I mean what ever happened to MTV showing music? Stuff like this was their bread and butter back in the day. I know NBC will probably only have small amounts of Police. But I will Tivo it anyway, since I can button through Kelly whatsherface. If it's anything like their Olympics coverage it's bound to be all prepagaged and sucky. Just give me a live feed and let the camera go.

I looked at the US lineup on the MSN page. I can't see Kelly Clarkson or Smashing Pumpkins coming on after the Police. Trying to as objective as possible, cause I do like the Smashing Pumpkins, but I can't imagine them wanting to come on after the Police.

Wasn't Giant Stadium the scene of their last ever show during the Amnesty tour? It would be great to have them in the same place on their reunion, playing last, headlining again and blowing all the other acts out of the water.

Jenny, everyone on earth will tape this thing and upload it to YouTube.

If they don't, I will. :) Or at least link the relevant portions here where you can see them.
