A place for a Konvention?

I am Italian, but live in the US. So yes, I could vote for the old Boot.
I also think SC should have a say in choosing the place (please not the Middle East if possible)....especially if he would like to show up!

We definitely need to have an sc.net konvention one of these days.

I tend to think LA would be a logical location--considering how we could all hit Backstage Cafe and enjoy other great LA locales while in the area.

But an Italy trip would be amazing too--I think some of us were disucussing this last week in Dallas, how the next time Stewart does an Italy tour we want to arrange a group trip, maybe rent a villa, go all out to have a blast and see some shows.

I've had some experience behind-the-scenes with science fiction convention organizing and what it entails...so if folks are really serious about this at some point, consider me on board to help out however I can!

What a great idea. I've been wondering what we're going to do when the boys are finished touring and Stewart goes back to being a suburban dad again. We've all made some bonds here and it's only July. We're going to go thru tour withdrawal.
LA sounds great. But Italy sounds BETTER! I've been thinking the Notte Della Taranta thing has got to be something to witness ( with or without Stewart). All the musicians on the stage. All the energy in the air. The cool music. I wouldn't mind being in the middle of that crowd.

It would be great if Stewart showed up to meet 'his people' and maybe even a little Gizmo reunion. Of course, he may be SO over the reunion thing by then!!! Of course, since we're over there, we'll go round to the Magic Stingdom and see if the Sumners are home. AND, we'll have to visit the ever gracious and wonderful Giovanni!

Sounds like a plan! Let's get working on it! Seriously.

(I'm going to have to start saving some dough!)

Well, Stew lives in Santa Monica, CA. So does mtobinjones. I live 8 miles south of there.

I'm just saying. Not that I'm all about my personal convenience or anything. 8)

Heheh. Great minds daweasel. This did occur to me too.
And part of my job is meeting and convention planning...... So I know a few places out here and can "hook us up".

Did occur to me as well that if we had our first Konvention klose to Casa Copeland, we may have a higher success rate of him showing. he'll need a break from being on the road after all...

Hell, he might even hear the 40 Kazoo salute from up on the hill!

LA having a busy airport means greater amount of discount flights! Who wants to camp in my backyard? I'm figuring Stew's front yard is out- my children could handle 50 weirdos in tube socks camping in the backyard- they are children of roadies, but I am thinking that, thanks to Fiona, Stewart's still have a chance at being a bit normal

and daweasel, there are more in the greater LA area than you and I- we're just the chattiest!

We can always have the SeKond Konvention al Italia!

I'm up for that!!

Don't really mind where..... Have credit card will travel.....

Not in the summer hols though.... Never get time off work!!!

Would help if it is somewhere where there are things for non SC fan, other halfs.... As if I leave my husband again he might get a bit upset!!!

I love the Taranta music so that would be cool!!

But anywhere really...... Lets start planning.......

I dunno guys, I'm not sure I'd count on Stewart actually showing up. Consider how many people are bound to be coming at him from every direction these days. I think I'd camp out on an abandoned Pacific island somewhere at the end of all this, if I were him...

Goes without saying, but I'm in on the Konvention for sure. Unless it's some week I've got something I just can't get out of.

After they disband and Sting is going to work on a bagpipe solo album that is is going to record in North Korea about 700 people will disappear from this forum and there could be a nice Tube Sock Konvention in Italy with everybody bringing homemade salads and Stewart sitting at the campfire and telling stories about how he beat up that Reuters guy ... priceless ...

SoCal (and Italy for that matter) hold plenty of interest for those unlucky enough to be married to one of us weirdos.

Stewart, while I am sure overwhelmed, will one day read our weirdness and feel somehow grateful for the normalcy our weirdness brings him. Millions of Sting fans will start saving for "Return of the Lutes" and "Lute Wars:Episode 3" and the tube sock wearing freaks will return to crdue humor, soundtracks and fabulously creative jamming.

Besides, who in their RIGHT mind could resist a Kazoo jam in their honor?
come on - if it were for you, you'd show, right?????

Oh, and weasels American thighs will be rockin the joint-nuff said.

I'm SO up for Italy - that would be gorgeous.

I'll state the case for London as well though - a few pints in the Hope & Anchor before embarking on a tour of Police related London landmarks anyone? No?

I would be up for stopping over in London a few days. It might be cheaper to fly into London first, spend a few days there, then fly to Italy via RyanAir or EasyJet since it'd probably be cheaper than flying direct to Italy from the states.
