In praise of derangement.

I'd just like to say something about the remixes I first heard on the "Everyone Stares" DVD. I think they're amazingly good, and I'm glad I'm now able to listen to them without leaving the DVD itself running a menu screen on a loop.

These mashups are clever, clean, entertaining as hell, and most importantly, different. They're not "derangements," they're "adjustments."

Being composed almost entirely of Police-generated material, they won't present the same level of cross-artist irony as something done by, say, The Kleptones... but, damn. I do love hearing variations on The Gospel According to Sting. I wish more were available. Thank you, Mr. C.

Just sayin'.

I love your post; you have great taste and derangement is underrated.

HA!

I concur, honey.

I feel similar about the new arrangements in the tour. I (personally) enjoy hearing something new -- even when I don't personally think it's improved. I like the variation, I like the surprise, and I like knowing that the band is willing to take risks. Plus, I like some of the new results. (Never much cared about "Footsteps," but I LOVE the new version. Love the similarly upbeat "Footsteps" derangement for that matter.)
