HI,
I'm desperatly looking for the name of that band where Stewart Copeland used to play with when he was about 17.
I heard that it could be Stone Feather, but it doesn't make sense to me.
Is anybody able to help me?
Thanks.
Gert

I've checked in several books (Accompanying The Police, L'Historia Bandido, Police Files, A Visual Documentary) and didn't find nothing.
I would have liked to help...
Gert, I like your Vancouver shots, really !

Are you sure you arn't thinking of Strontium 90? Of coarse he wasan't 17, but it's the closest I can think of.

No no, it was long before Curved Air, circa 1969/70 after Stewart leaved Lebanon and lived in London, and before going in San Diego...

Where's Dietmar when you need him? Now I have to know the answer.

Did anyone look in "Wild Thing"? I'll try to grab my copy and read on the plane. Of course, someone will have posted the answer by the time I hit the Big Easy, most likely...

you are thinking of "the rolling stones". stewart copeland actually has an alter ego called "charlie watts", for which he wears a haggard old mask and wig, and pretends to be all old and fuddy. it's quite an amazing transformation! not to mention how he gets around.... he's kind of like santa claus at christmas time, that way.

When Stewart was 17, Charlie Watts was only 28, and didn't look very haggard at all. Nice try, though!
Another note: Charlie is only a year older than Andy Summers. Have some respect for your elders, young person!

Maybe you mind:
Frolkhaven from 1972. his band in University in CA

No, that's not Frolkhaven and that's not in 1972 nor in California. I know that Stewart did a concert in Nice (France) around 1969 with that band Stone something.
Mmmm, apparently not so many people now about this...

I've never heard of it. I did a few searches and just couldn't find anything. Where did you hear this and maybe we can look from there?

Finished Wild Thing not too long ago. Don't recall it being in there.
Yes, where IS Dietmar?? Have you checked with Gio??
Maybe Stewart will answer in code only his true fans can understand, not pseudo "journalists".

I'm right here, but I'm only interested in the POLICE and not in ANY solo activities...
so (didn't think I'd ever type these words): I don't know
I'll send an e-mail to Stewart - he should know!
