Dream Gig Aka Which Show if You Could Go Anywhere?

Dream Gig Aka Which Show if You Could Go Anywhere?

So,

post Dodger show we had, shall we say, a little marital dischord. ummmmm

not to get into it, but, while the Dodger show rocked and was tighter, better and more intense than Staples, I actually enoyed the Staples show more. Why you might ask? well a preteen, a bored 8 year old (except for the Foos) and a toddler who'd stolen daddys coke (so imagine a small person on crack being able to stay in her seat!)
add one cranky husband who just got off work and wouldn't budge.

Anyway, too much information running thru my brain...

So, husband to me on Monday: I will pay to fly you anywhere in the world to see them and buy you a ticket. I am not going.

:) she tries not to smile too widely.Pretends it would not be fun without him.

Reality check. she is executive, they have 3 kids, he is going to croatia to shoot a film in july for a few weeks. So, the possibilities dwindle.

BUT- I thought of this. It's fun to dream. And I've been at virtually every venue in the world (perk of my old gig). So, where would I want to see a gig if I could go anywhere in the world to see a gig?

Where would you? I am still sorting my pros and cons.

It can be for venue, city, romantic or historical value.

But I thought it would be fun and help me get to know some of my new friends better!

Wow. What a proposition! I hope it works out for you!

There are quite a few cities that I would love to attend simply because of the SC.netters that are there.

But Dream Gig for me is Closing Night, wherever that may be. I was fortunate enough to be there when the tour began; I would love to be fortunate enough to be there when the journey ends.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

good ideas all!

But I think it was a shallow promise! He'd keel over if I came up with something good. Or be secretly mad.
I paid for all of our tickets so far, including the kids, so he doesn't have anything to complain about- yet.

So, no crazy ideas? I was thinking people would come up with places they have not announced- if you could see the Police anywhere on this tour, anywhere, on the current list or not, where would it be?

PS, need to check on Boston, but sounds interesting!!!! Too PA girls at one show (I'm from Lancaster!)

Auckland or Sydney. No offense to the tons of SC.net folks I'd love to meet, but damn those Australians can rock. The crowd will be insane.

Although I'm starting to seriously consider a couple of the European dates also. Who's got the rowdiest fans, folks?
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

Well, I just moved back to LA from Auckland, so no drama there. I still work for an NZ company, so if any Auckland dates show, well, I have a good excuse to go.

Though, because it is generally one show, a lot of shows skip NZ, or else take a more limited show (set, lights etc). Not the best shows I have seen (tho the Foos in a big circus tent was fun).

Sydney would definitely be fun!

Hey, I am going to Cardiff and don't have a date! Last night of the European leg- band is very likely to be punchy!

Anyway, my favorite gigs(not that there are announced shows there) where I dream I could see the Police:

~the old 9:30 club in DC - a terrible ratty place to see a show with lots of limited views. But the best shows in the world- and it always looked great from the lighting desk!
~what's the name of that tiny rock club in Victoria BC? Did a show with the Buzzcocks and one with Killing Joke. Small as hell, lots of fun.
~Tel Aviv stadium: near the beach and the Israelis know how to rock
~Mexico City stadium (10 shows there in 10 days with M. in 93-all sold out and all were amazing crowds. I am sure the Police would beat that)
Helsinki in the summer!

lion- little worried about the guys in your room......

I don't think they'd all fit in my bedroom-nor would I want them there_ stewart could stop by to teach me drums though.....

I can think of a bunch of clubs and an infinite list of places I'd like to go (the moon would be seriously cool), but I still gotta go with Closing Night, wherever it is.

DM... Do we want a closing night?

But hey if they have a break then play some middle late next year I could put it in for my 40th!

And I'd like the band to play in Tasmaina, that way Visions doesn't have to travel too far to see them!!

An outdoor show with lights at the pyramids in Egypt!! Wow!!
