Howdy, Here's hoping that the LA gig will give some music critics out threr a kick in the groin... or something. Is it true that the Foo's are opening up too?

I posted my review under the thread "Police rock 55,000 in LA".
Definitely a helluva show... when the chips are down, in front of 55,000 people, the guys certainly do come out swingin' hard.

ps. oh, yeah, along with Fiction Plane, the Foo Fighters did open tonight's show. They were alright.

Heeeeey, c'mon, there has to be some fans of my second-favorite band around here who can fill me in on the Foos set some more...

I love the Foo Fighters, too, but the one concert I've seen wasn't good at all. Dave's voice is great on record, but in concert he's only shouting because everything is too loud. So I'm satisfied with their records...

Funny, I've seen them three times and always thought they put on a great show, but I'm more there to watch Taylor and for Dave's stage banter. His voice sounded great on the acoustic tour...
thanks for the great pix......

hey sockii: i'm not a Foos fan, but i was there last night so i thought I'd give you the little report you're looking for. I thought they were Excellent. The highlight was when Grohl left the stage and walked though the entire audience on the floor...he seemed to have a destination in mind and it was hysterical and disappointing when the the security finally tackled him as he was headed towards the area of the field where the baseball bases are...he was definitely looking to run around the bases which would have totally rocked. anyway, he was stopped so he ran from here to there through the crowd and climbed up on some boxes/cases/speakers? over by the area where many of the techs were staged. He stood atop one of these and played for crowd below....everyone enjoyed it so much. As someone else said in another thread they definitely "upped the bar" for The Police to follow...I thought they were great.

Dietmar-
dave's voice definitely is appreciated better at different venues! He was definitely yelling quite a bit at Dodger- but there was definitely a ton of energy and enthusiasm -and it was fun to see one of us- a Stewart geek- up there on stage enthusing about how excited HE was to be seeing the Police live again.
dave's a drummer at heart- never forget!
Actually, I was floored at Taylor- he's a great guy, but never in my opinion a great drummer- but he has definitely grown a lot in a few years!

I admit that I haven't kept up much with the Foos, so this might be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway: Does Dave ever drum anymore (in performance)?

not that i have seen for quite a while. I think he really doesn't want to overshadow Taylor- that's his gig now, and now he's quite up to it...
though unless he modifies his grip, sits back more and cracks that snare a little tighter? never be our boy!

HELLO! I was there, as well, and I must say, it was a fantastic show. "Synchronicity II" and "Walking On the Moon" were incredible. The whole show was fantastic, but those two were just magical- PERFECT! Foo Fighters were good. Fiction Plane was alright, too.

P.S. I'm new here.
What's with all the pictures of the socks?!

The Foo Fighters are awesome. Especially live.
Would've been a dream to have seen this show.

Welcome, Codackussell! Glad to hear you had a good show.
The tube sock pics are a bit of a lark/tribute to Stewart (and the fashion he made (in)famous) started by our resident Tube Sock Queen, Hannah:

Perhaps you've read my post "Police rock 55,000...." above. It seems some naysayers are afoot. I'm telling you, dude, I've been a working musician for 29 years, I've seen the Police and Sting a bunch, and their Dodger Stadium show completely kicked ass! They hit it out of the park!! (har, har)

Grohl woz great in the 90s, Taylor is better now, but none can touch the Maestro.
