Outdoor stage -- bloody HUGE!!! Trouble seeing?

Have any lovely Copelanders had floor seats to any of the outdoor shows so far?

I noticed at Oakland that the stage is pretty crazy tall, taller (from the field floor to the band's feet) than I had expected. So tall, in fact, that I've heard of complaints of the front few rows having trouble seeing Andy and Sting (and could completely forget seeing Stewart).

Does anyone have any reports on outdoor field experiences? If so, would you mind sharing what row you were in and how well you could see?

(I (*cough*nerd*cough*) had done all sorts of math determining stage heights in relation to my friend's height, etc., but that all went out the window when I saw the stage. I would really hate to get to Giants and find that our 5th row seats have a gorgeous view of a black wall. . . .)

Thanks!

(Thanks to nancyrose for reminding me about this.)

Hey, Laz! How was the view?

Oh, sorry about that... yeah, you MIGHT have a little trouble seeing Stewart from 1st row (not sure though)... if you're in the 2nd or 3rd row or beyond, you'll be just fine. I was on the floor a bit further back (Section F20, aisle seat). My seat wasn't terribly close to the stage, but totally cool.

I will say that your best bet close to the stage is if you have seats in the first few rows in front of the stage at or near the middle. They did open up blocks of seats close to the stage but off to the sides, and even though those are angled, it does seem like you get mostly a good view of the railing and the black wall and maybe the big screen, and you're constantly having to look sideways to get any view of Sting or Andy, and you may or may not see Stewart (other than on the screen of course).

I did also hear complaints from a few people that the view from their seats near the back just off the floor was partially obstructed by the mixing board tents (instead of one in the middle, there were two - a left one and a right one, each with its speaker tower). At least that was the case at Dodger Stadium.
