Hello All,
Does anyone own the Stewart Copeland Signature Snare Drum? I would love any feedback that you can provide. I have the urge to buy some new gear and of course this baby is at the top of my list. Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Chris

This doesn't really count because it's not my opinion (I don't have that snare, YET!) but the drummer of the Foo Fighters (T.Hawkins) has stated that it HAS Copelands sound. He's a huge Police fan so I bet he's right.

Anybody here have first hand knowledge? If you do I'm jealous of your snare.

Ahhhh snare envy!!!.

Cheers.

Hey Man,
Thanks for the info. I know that Taylor Hawkins plays Tama, but I had no idea that he had the Stewart Snare.

It was in the August issue of Rhythm magazine (from UK).

He (T.Hawkins) interviews his drum heroes, when he interviews Copeland he mentions that snare and Copeland says "You bought one? I would have given you one!".

pretty cool circles to travel in.

Cheers.

So anybody own the Copeland snare?

Thanks Bongo Boy,
You are certainly good at research. I love the Foos by the way. Taylor is a brilliant drummer. I think I am going to throw caution to the wind and buy a Copeland snare.

I will check here in Canada to see the price, funny I have never checked.

...probably because I need to buy a new laptop, new pro tools system, new kick drum pedal....on and on. I guess I can add a snare drum to the list, ya only live once.

Cheers.

Us drummers and our toys. I am looking at a set of DW right now. Have you been on e-bay lately? They have TONS of stuff to beat on. Check it out when you get a chance.

I haven't checked E-bay but I did check at a local music store today and the price is high but not near as high as I thought it would be.

Tama S.Copeland snare - $600.00 Canadian dollars (tax in).

If it sounds like his, then it's totally worth it. (IMO).

So in U.S. funds it's what.....about $47.50? (heh,heh).

Cheers and let me know when you get it..."why you little!" (Homer Simpson).
CHEERS.

My awesome wife bought it for me for Xmas one year. :)
And yes, it is all you want it to be! The freaking cut this thing has, especially in live mic'd situations is just awesome. :) I will upload some songs from my last band's effort in the studio- I recorded mainly with the Stewart sig, and a few with my Starclassic Maple 5x14 so you can hear the difference. :)

Okay- sorry this took longer than expected:

Drama King has the Starclassic Maple, all others have the Stewart Copeland Signature snare. :) I also put up an unmixed version of And You'd Say so you can hear it w/o any effects (I have other songs too that we never got to mix if you wanna hear!).
Enjoy! :)

I listened to "Pessimist" (I think) and it was Cool! Very nice drumming Buddy, nice Copelandian fills.

I really want one of those snares!

Good work! - Cheers.

That's awesome man! Congrats on the purchase! I think one of the best things about it is it's attack and just how f-in loud it is! Wait till you play it w/a band in a live situation. You'll be grinning ear to ear! :)

Oh I wanted to ask- Did you get yourself at laptop yet? Ever consider an Apple with Soundtrack instead of Pro tools? Just curious since I work for Apple. ;)

Oh- what head are you using on the Sig snare?

No I didn't get a laptop. I really wanted an Apple G4 17 inch powerbook with Pro Tools Digi 002. In the end it was almost eight thousand dollars canadian....ouch!

So I bought a great snare drum instead, now I'm pricing a whole new Tama Starclassic Maple kit ($3000) Oh well it's a bit cheaper.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do but with my band rehearsing and soon to be recording, and with all this drumming...I'm fully addicted again.

Man I love the drums !!!! I don't wanna work, I just wanna play on the drums all day!!!

Sorry, I'll go now.
Cheers.
