The Police tour poster

The Police tour poster

Postby giovanni on 13 May 2007 20:06

Wow!

25 years ago I saw a POLICE IN TOUR poster in Milan for the first time!
That was about the concert in Milano on July 4th 1982 (I don't remember about the posters for the first show in 1980, even if I remember about all those tear gas and the troubles showed on tv).

TODAY....I SAW IT AGAIN!!!! It's the poster (a big one) promoting the show in Turin....AMAZING...
I was driving in my car and my eyes got caught by that great logo, my head turned to follow the image of that amazing poster, without watching what was in front of me...ehm....bo problem, I only had a red light traffic jam!!!
Exactly as it happened 25 years ago, more or less about the same period of the year, but I was riding a bycicle!

I made a U turn with my car and got close to the poster...I was like a child looking at a wonderful toy for the first time, or at least 'that' toy that you always wanted and finally your parents give you as a present!

Hmmm, now I have to call the promoter and tell them if they may have one copy left .... 25 years ago I got it when I went to buy the ticket, as I saw some copies left on a corner of the ticket seller...it is framed in my 'Police museum room'!

Yeeeeaaahhh!
Ciao ciao

That is a great story, Giovanni, and I love the way you described your excitement at seeing it!

I hope you can get it and add to your "museum!"

Yeah... return to the place and take a pic of it plzzzz... by the way a FM radio station of lima called OXIGENO placed a enourmous poster outside their 8 floors building located in fornt of one of the main railways of Lima... this radio station is well known as the radio of the 80's (classics hits)

The poster is divided in four with artistic photos of bands... and one of the four bands is THE POLICE... yeah with the pic of them took by Anton Corbjin, the same photo session appears in the inside ps of Synchronicity album

I will come back there and take a pic of the poster; it's the same graphic used for the ads on the main newspapers, and I love it!

Merci for the picture!

I like the poster design but I regret they use such an old picture. Probably an idea of the management as they seem to assume perfectly their age. And after all, they're not that old!

as people are interested in this topic, I've also photographed my Düsseldorf poster:

and every now and then people are curious how the 1983 beach towel looked - so here it is:

enjoy
