STEWART- How's your family doing with all of this?

Not that I expect you to respond, but being a fellow drummer and a family man, I often wonder how your better half and kids are holding up? Are they with you? If not do you guys video chat thru the wonders of iChat? (if not you should be!!). I can imagine how awesome this is, but also conflicting because of the amount of time you may end up spending away from them all. How are you holding up? I know personally it would be tough for me. You have to do it, you want to do it, you're flying high, just right above the rest of us in this whole thing! But still it kinda stinks.

For all my fellow Copelandians out there- what are your thoughts on this?

The part that makes me wonder about how far-reaching this Police project may be (despite my utter excitement at Andy's words) is the reality that SC still has three young girls at home.

But I think this is an area where Stewart really deserves every ounce of privacy that he can get.

Aww, Anthony you always make me take a second-look...I'm largely wrapped up in my happiness and craziness although it does cross my mind to think about how crazy this must be for someone *on* the damn rocketship (rather than just standing back and watching from the launch pad at the Space Center <grin>), even though it's something I'll never be able to fully comprehend...

I suspect after all his experience and such, being the Wise Grey Stewart, he has a better and repertoire of tools for making this work for him and his fam than the first time around...his remarks from ESTPIO are pretty raw and unsentimental about the costs of life on the road, but it somehow seems different...being able to come back on your own terms, back on top of the world right where you left off...without having to hump your own equipment and slog your way back to the top...under those terms I'm sure you have a much better position to negotiate for arrangements and considerations to include those most important to you but in the end, only he can really know...and, following DM, that's about it...

Spec A:
I can only imagine how difficult this would be trying to conquer the world (again!) and maintain a degree of composure with not only family but one's self also.
As a fellow drummer and family man myself, I just got through step-parenting a teenaged girl and it was bar none, the hardest thing I have ever done and I wasn't trying to juggle that with a music career at the same time. I don't know how Stewart or other traveling performers with families do this.

I realize this is a personal thing and I don't expect to hear a response from him. I thought it'd be nice for him to know that his fans truly do appreciate (even down to the level of caring about all aspects - health, sanity, support system for him) all that he's done, and sacrificed for us to get this opportunity.





I just can't imagine what it'd be like and how hard it would be to leave your family for the touring life after being away from that beast for so many years. I hope (and bet) all three are able to pretty much do as the please tho, so chances are his family will be a part of it as he sees fit.

If the great man does have a second to read what his fans think and say about him he should be truely chuffed to bits....

We don't just look at him and go COR!!!...... do we?... na.... (well some of us sometimes.....)

We respect his musical talents and really appreciate that he is going on this tour....

We all want a piece of him....... But I think now we all know that he needs some time back with his family too.

I would like to thank Stewart for the tour but thank his family for letting him go.......

I'm sure the rehearsals were not too bad, "jetting" around.

If you can afford it I guess it can be done. With poor musicians...it can get kinda ugly.

I'm sure during the tour the family can hook up at certain cities and they can go have fun. That is the nice part about this, sucess that can now be enjoyed. I think he no longer has to be a "stuffed pillow" in his hotel room.

The best part is, I would guess that his wife and kids are happy to see HIM so happy...with his old buddies...sold out shows...they are even better musicians now.

I think it's awesome, I am sure they are having a blast, I hope so...that what the whole thing should be about for them. Rocking in a big stadium and then the next day you can hang out with your family.

After a year the family will say "OK that's enough...now go drum in your studio!"

GOOD on YA MATE !

This is something that almost every musician has to face, from when you are nobody (and you may listen to someone screaming at you...'will this give you something one day???') up until you are someone.
Musicians are human beings and this is part of the package (unfortunately sometimes); pros and cons of a passion that makes you live like a gipsy sometimes....
Hey, we could do the same question to stewards and hostess on planes, it's a hard life as well.

I guess this is one of the main issues that Stewart thought about when asked to be on tour again for such a long time, and I guess his heart was kinda shared between two 'families'....can we call them both like this?

Gio- two families, for sure! When you spend that much time in cramped quarters all working toward the same goal with such passion and devotion there's no doubt that most bands that have survived the years are 2nd families to each of the members.

Yep. I've long thought Stewart's wife Fiona must be incredibly cool. There's a lot that goes into putting that band together, and there's no doubt in my mind that support from the wives and kids is instrumental to it. (Which is also why I personally refrain from posting overly lecherous comments about the guys...you'd have to be blind and stupid not to get how awesome they are, but one reason I love 'em is that none of them is married to some bimbo.)
