Some new soundtrack material from Stewart possible?

Read yesterday that there is going to be a sequel made of 'Wall Street' with Michael Douglas. As bad, unoriginal, and unecessary as the film idea may be, since Stewart did the original sountrack, could he be tapped for the sequel? Let's hope so...

That is my favorite movie that he scored, aside from The Rhythmatist! Douglas' performance was so over the top. I really identified with Charlie Sheen's character. I am constantly ripping off that "blow up the background" shot!

The soundtrack is gripping, but rather lightweight at only 15 min. long or so. It was released twice, once paired with Salvador and also with Talk Radio, which is the obvious one to seek out since Stew scored it as well. It lacks the bounce and energy that make the former so great, tho. Wall Street makes a great starting point for people interested in exploring his work. Similar in tone to The Equalizer... high praise coming from me!

Is Oliver Stone going to direct this as well? Agree that a sequel is unnecessary. Stone should do a film about big oil companies instead.

Thanks for the link that was a great read. I wonder if Stewart will be involved? That theme music is certainly very iconic to me, and i'm betting it would be to a lot of folks who were fond of the first one. I hope they go the extra mile to connect this picture with the original and utilize the theme, if not Stewart himself. He will be too busy to do it for the immediate future at any rate. He's on tv a lot these days, so his own higher profile couldn't hurt the venture!

But i'm looking forward to it anyway. Gekko goes down as one of my favorite characters in movie history. I wanna see him return and am glad to see Hollywood in general embracing its rich history. It would actually be stretching credibility to include Bud in the story, so he's not an essential component.

I don't think Stewart's going to have any time for soundtracks over the next year... I love his soundtrack work but I'd much rather see him playing his kit.

I'd rather see him doing it all. That includes fronting a band as he did for Klark Kent and some Gizmo songs. I also want to see him at his computer/editing deck! The man just oozes talent, i like to see him express it in the many ways he is capable.
