The best friend and I are scheduled for a little show at Giants Stadium that Sunday. (The Police. Ever heard of them?)

But if there are still single tix available, I think we're going to try to get down there for the Saturday line-up. I've posed it to her as a Fear-and-Loathing-in-Las-Vegas-style race between NJ, Baltimore, and back again.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Aw, it's not that far. Pray for good traffic on the NJ Turnpike, tho...

Nah, it's really not so terrible. About 3 hours probably. Plus traffic. Plus concert traffic.

But at the time, I didn't know that they would sell single-day tix. So we were expecting to get up on Sunday, hit more bands, then race like hell to Giants. Of course, we still might. We shall see.

Don't say that, Kim!

I am a bit fearful that they're going to just be dogged by Giants. From that weekend, plus all the rest of the dates behind it.

But I'm also trying to rationalize that since it will be the last show of the first leg, it has celebration built into it. So maybe it'll be mind-blowing *because* it's the last-hurrah of the first leg. Who's with me?!?

 Whoa. I just realized that I'm going to see the first and last performance of the first leg of the tour. Whoa.

This festival looks too good to pass up. I'm seriously looking the possibilities of making this one. Incubus, 311, Matisyahu, plus The Police. That makes all worth the effort.

I saw this article on the fesitval from the Baltimore Sun which quotes the organizer as directly claiming that signing the Police was what made securing the other huge acts possible...

http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainme ... 8310.story

Tickets go on sale on May 5...<collapses from trip planning exhaustion, but with a big ole grin> Other tidbits: 60k capacity (over the 40k quoted from last year), shuttle will be added from Metro...

There's no way in heck I can even think of VIP for this but just curious what it includes...can't find much info about it and thought to ask just out of curiousity more than anything else...

Divemistress of the Dark>>>Cheap Trick?? <<<

!!! Let me ask something, I'm just curious;
Back in 1978, two years before the Police's visit to Japan, we had another band that caused "FRENZY" among schoolgirls. That was Cheap Trick.
Streets were filled with girls wearing CT-Tshirts and caps, and then, the live "at Budokan" became a legend. So they were quite special for us. But afterwards, by late 80's they seemed to be forgotten.....
It's almost 30 years since then....I happened to see them on TV this year (January), I was impressed to know that they have been active even during their hard times, making albums, touring in the cities, etc....until now.
I began digging up their stories, re-listen to their music, including the recent one. WELL, I like them, they still have a "highschool" taste in their music, almost naive ! How charming......

I know they have long-time fans, but how's their reputation in USA (or in other places) now?
And.... how their fans survived (sorry I couldn't find an appropriate word than this) the vocalist's METAMORPHOSIS !? ..... how could Robin(Zander) change like that? A slender prince to a macho-warrior......
Yet, he still has a soft & powerful voice and I'll be enjoying their music as long as they play.

Tom Petersson lived here in Nashville for a while, so they play around here a lot...they don't inspire the fan frenzy they once did, but I saw them perform last summer and let me tell you they were terrific. Their new album is pretty good, also. They're still playing a lot of gigs, last I heard...I don't think they're considered very "cool" any more, but they have a hardcore group of fans still. I thought Zander looked pretty good, myself!

Thanks Dive! I'm GLAAAAD to hear that!
Yes I think "Rockford" is pretty good too, but listening to their Live Albums,
seems they SPARK at the Live shows. They came to Japan last year (I didn't even know that), again, two years before the Police.

The Police & Cheaptrick at Virgin Festa! sounds miracle for me now, only it's too far......

So who is doing the Virgin shindig?

I'm debating whether or not to pick up single day tix (reminder: they go on sale next Saturday, May 19) for the BFF and me.

Not sure if it's worth it to spend 6 hours in the car (both ways) just for 1 day of a no-shade, big-crowd, flat-land General Admission situation. The one big advantage: it's cheap!

The BFF will be in serious need of fun that weekend. We'll already be at Giants on Sunday. I'm debating whether Virgin's the way to go on Saturday, or if instead I should try to scare up some MSG tix for Friday night and spend Saturday hanging out and hitting the tattoo parlor instead.

Decisions, decisions . . .

If hubbys second summer class makes (about 75% chance atm), then we are planning on going to NYC for the MSG #1 show (score cheap nosebleeds from StubHub once the market drops like it is for Vancouver shows), kick it a few days in NYC (courtesy of whatever Priceline gets us), drive to Baltimore for the Virgin festival and camp at the KoA (15 mins. away or so), drive to Metro stop and take the shuttle in to the festival for both days, drive home <grin>

ooOooO: what's yer plans for a tat? <grin>

Exactly! If I get really nuts, I'll get her to do MSG on Friday, Virgin on Saturday, and Giants on Sunday. But I fear that after all the sun and driving, I'd be half-dead by Sunday. Unless SC wants to give us a lift, of course.

Tattoo sidebar:

The BFF and I have been trying to get our FIRST tats for about 15+ years now. Seriously. Cuz many moons ago our teenage selves swore that the first would be together, and something ALWAYS happens to screw up the event.

Mine is going to be a copy of a printer's ornament from the 1882 print of Whitman's Leaves of Grass -- it's a circle of vines with three-pronged leaves. It's going to be simple -- probably just solid black or solid green. (Because the original is so small (and the only copy of it that I can find so meh), hubby had to figure out how all the lines worked and redraw it for me.) Haven't quite decided where it's going to go yet.
