DM- thanks, that was very sweet of you. :p

I remember the days of going out with my girl every weekend, catching a local band at a bar (or being in that band!) ... It really was not all that long ago in the grand scheme of things either!

So for those that actually did go out and are now back- what did you end up doing tonight?

Anytime, sweetie. I've got your back.

You know, Spec, you're not so old that you can't take your girl out to catch a band. There's this great modern invention called The Babysitter that could be quite useful to you. Get that foot out of the grave and have some fun, man!

Yeah unfortunately there's this whole "frugalilty and financial responsibility" thing floating around in my head that makes me squirm at the thought of dropping as much on a baby sitter as we would on dinner/drinks/going out. Because yes, that's how much it costs- It's ghey how expensive babysitting is!!

Keep in mind we also moved from all our family in the Baltimore/DC area (used to live in Annapolis) to boresville USA- aka- The Woodlands, TX w/hardly anyone we know, certainly no one we trust to watch our little girl. There is NOTHING to do here locally other than drink or see a movie. Going downtown to Houston is a 45min drive and time is money when we go out now.

Don't get me wrong- we still go out. Good lord do we need to get out as adults and not parents every now and then! But it's definitely not the drop of a hat thing that it used to be.

Oh and with my wife pregnant again, yeah we're not going out so much right now anyways. :D

Edit- back on track- Plans this weekend- If I get time in between painting and building furniture for my daughters "big girl room", I am so recording some more for you guys! I'll make a new post for it.

I hear ya on the frugality bit. But I'm glad to hear that you Krazy Kids do get *some* time out, even if it's not as much as you'd like. Sometimes it really is worth saving those pennies to be able to get out and DO something. Particularly since it sounds like you could really use it.

Once you guys have been in the area longer, perhaps you'll be able to locate more babysitting/entertainment resources? I take it none of the local watering holes do band nights?

Looking forward to more Spec A! Basement Tapes.

A lot of times I stay home on Friday nights or do something low key if I do go out and save my energy for going out on Saturday nights. Around here, traffic is horrible on Friday afternoons. What should normally be a 45-60 minute commute for me usually turns into a 2+ hour nightmare and a lot of times I just don't feel like going back out again.

Dude- NoVa traffic is ALWAYS horrible! I used to commute to College Park everyday- 45mins to 2hours- it sucked and that was light compared to NoVa!

What's bad is the Bay Bridge Beach traffic I used to have to compete with going home every Friday in the summer- that sucked.

Now I have a 10-15min commute tops. :D

Could be worse - you might have been watching American Idol's country week like me. At least I 'celebrated' 420 day though, which I must say I didn't know existed until my American friend pointed it out.

Peace
