ChiaStng? I'd love to see a Ghosts in the Machine Chia Pet terra cotta set just in time for the Christmas rush!

That *would* be cool. Or you could set it up like those clay pots folks grow ornamental grass in...(I have this perfect mental image of this, I'll see if I get time to whomp up a Photoshop later...
Hello, all. Just wanted to appreciate ThePoliceTour.com.
At the risk of coming off negatively, I'd appreciate thepolicetour.com a lot more if they got rid of the old imagery and came up with something more current. The red/yellow/blue primary color thing looks especially dated (i.e. - NOT fresh).
That's not to say that old photos can't be used in new ways (
http://991.com/newGallery/The-Police-Th ... 396492.jpg) or that even old logos can't be recycled (I like the synch stripes with photos in them and the little Ghost In The Machine logo that takes you here or to Andy's or Sting's sites), but the site as a whole (to me) lacks the finesse that the band has on record. In fact, it looks as though it were assembled from a kit... much like
http://www.thewhotour.com/.
Sorry if I've rained on anybody's parade. It's a big enough umbrella and all that.

Aceface, that's a good point about the old photos, but I would say even moreso since there's such a fetishization of what they looked like young...I mean they are so superb now, I think new pics of them only do them a service (instead of emphasizing what they *once* looked like...look at em *now*...it would also underscore the point that "We are the Police and we are back!" present tense)...Perhaps there will be much more to go on and use once the tour gets underway....then we'll have *plenty* of updated pictures of them rocking <grins, uncontainably>
I surely appreciate TPT.com...gladly join in on the sentiment here...it's a great resource for us all...a lot of work has gone into it, given the magnitude of this tour, I can't imagine...and lots of "our type" there...meaning Police fans!!! I can only catch like 1/20 threads from the number of posters there, but there are some great threads surely...I especially like the music ones <grin>

I totally agree. The old pics are nice memories but that's all they are now. Memories. I'd like to see new logos and new pics for the most part.
It just feels like I would be buying old stuff with the old logos in a way. Anyone get what I'm saying?
Stew and the boys...don't be so sheepish about your current looks. You have all aged gracefully and looked great at the grammys and on all the reunion footage.
You have Keith Richards beat by a millenium!

Amen, ace. The site is pretty ugly. The old photos would work way better with a more modern aesthetic.
As advertising goes, I can understand what they're trying to do: bring back the old memories/nostalgia, bring in the younger crowd (who might be scared off by folks that look like their dads), place less emphasis on the guys' current ages, etc. Marketing is marketing.
But I *would* prefer some more current images. In fact, I had these same thoughts the other day, so I grouped together some recent Stewart pics to rotate in as avatars. Wise Grey Stewart deserves some representin'.

He's also leaner and meaner than pretty much any other drummer I've ever seen.

Oh hell yeah. Hm...I might grab some of the pics Eugenio's got out front for avatars...
He did a great job on that last montage for Punkspring.

I still like the young Stewart ones best, he was such a cutie!

If my parents still hate it, that doesn't matter.

Heh I like the current avatar only because it screams hijinks...if Wise Stewart pulls any hijinks for the camera...epsecially with a camera in hand...I have a new avatar, hands down <grin>

Oy, I have to say I just dipped over to TPT.com and am running back here for safety & sanity again...you know, at least when we have a passionate debate here, we end up with crazy equations and colorful graphs.
If I see someone whine about who is or isn't a "true fan" again over there I think I'll scream.
