Memoirs of an 80’s Girl – Part 1

“Da DoDoDo, Du Da Da Da, that’s all I have to say to you…” what the heck does that mean? She was listening to her favorite radio station, as she danced around her bedroom with her tennis racquet in hand, strumming it like as if she were in the coolest band. She had her bandana tied around her head with her baseball jersey on. It had angel wings on the back and the words ‘Little Angel’ across the front in sparkly iron-on letters. Her loyal friend and “band member” was jumping around the room with her ‘drumsticks’ flying around, her worn-out AC/DC shirt fraying at the arms as she rolled them up. “I don’t know, but this is a RAD song!” As the DJ announced at the end of the song, “…and that was the Police with their hit song Da Do Do Do, Du Da Da Da…”

It was off to Tower of Records. It was the hang-out where all teens went to check out the newest LPs, or check out the fashion statements that all Tower Records employees were known for. As they grabbed the newly released album off of the shelf. It was love at first site. Who was the fine guy in the upper right hand corner with the long face and gorgeous hair? Oh, and that angular jaw line… with a prominent nose of a Greek god. Hmmmm, Stewart Copeland… must find out more. Off to the Rock section were we went looking up all bands under the “P” section. Well, what do you know - another album that we were not familiar with, Regatta de Blanc. Most people move forward and buy the latest, but because we wanted to hear more about this band, and it’s great drummer, we needed more, more of that energetic beat that drove us to want to be rock stars ourselves. Or just admire them from the speakers of our record players.
Dance like no one is watching.

Like Hottopic now.

Stewart will laugh when he sees the "greek god". Don't get me wrong, I still think he was cute... but I think of a greek god as being like... Mark Wahlberg.
“...and er, did anyone try just pushing this little red button?”
