STEWART COPELAND

Just got back from the event. Andy said he'd not been feeling great this week, a bad cold methinks, but was in good form once he warmed up.

He started by reading some excerpts from One Train Later, the Hendrix association, the Wrigleys advert and some stories from the early days.
Then he took some questions which was really interesting. He was very positive about the sixth studio album! Mentioning that the band were rehearsing acoustically in the evenings after the proper rehearsals with Stewart playing bass. There are new songs as previously mentioned, a couple will be played on the tour and it seems only Sting or a major fall out (sorry), will prevent new Police music.

I had a brief conversation with the great man as he was signing my book. He said he couldn't wait for the tour to start and smiled when I told him I was coming over from London for Giants Stadium and of course would be there at Twickenham.

I shook his hand and walked away contemplating the day that I met the great Andy Summers...

It must have been cool to hear him say about the new music.

You know what? This is the thing that pleases me, and doubtless others, most about this reunion. Andy, as mentioned was feeling under the weather, but as soon as he started talking about all things new, the songs, the arrangements and the tour his face lit up and you could tell how much this all means to him.

It's the same with Stewart, I believe, he seemed alive with enthusiasm at the Whisky.

The fans can't wait for the tour and the band, according to Andy, are playing better than ever!!

Damn, wish i could have been there, but have been bed-ridden with some sort of lurgy. Would have loved to have shaken the guy's hand.

STEWART, you and the fellas need massages (yes, I said massages, they are great for keeping the immune system strong) and great food and drink! Don't skimp on the sleep and I know that this is going to sound "corny" (so, you should love it) and I'm sure that this is common sense but don't forget to wash your hands often as this is how we often pick up the common cold.

I thought Andy sounded like he had a cold on that BBC audio that Laz linked (thank you, Laz!). How wonderful to hear about the new music and the positive progress in rehearsal. (And of Stewart playing bass -- yay.) It's so incredible to hear how happy this whole shabang has made The Boys.

Great to hear about it. I was hoping to go but one of my boys was unwell this afternoon and I had to stay and mop up puke and snot rather than hob nob with the lovely Andy! It sounds like there are lots of bugs going around at the moment. So get well Andy and Hannah!

That is very interesting indeed...here's hoping it happens. I'd personally be more excited about hearing a new album than the tour even.

Wow what a great day it must have been!!! And thanks for the great news...its great to hear from yet another Policeman that they sound better than ever (seconding Stewart's comment of the same variety)...this [tour, prospects of new music, etc] is like the most fantastic thing I could have ever imagined in my music world, just short of some resurrections from the grave...perhaps even still beating that

Thanks for the wonderful report, Landlord and the tidbits about the new material and Stewart playing the bass. You can tell from his various soundtracks and orchestral pieces that he is fond of the instrument. I love the way he uses it in his work. I agree with Dive, I hope we got some new Copeland compositions if a new album arises from this!

Ooooh, so glad to hear all the good news! I'm so happy to hear that Andy and Stewart are so psyched about the tour! I'm sure Sting probably is too, but we've heard it from SC and A. I have my fingers crossed that they are able to sustain this feeling thru out the tour.

Hi everyone. Just to clarify, it sounded like the acoustic sessions were just for kicks after the real rehearsals. Andy said that this didn't mean that there would be acoustic elements in the tour. Hopefully some more new songs/ideas will come to fruition through these jam sessions, with the band swapping instruments and so on. It sounds like the band are having a ball.

Another topic I've remembered, which I believe has been covered to a degree before, is that Andy said the catalyst for the tour was started about a year ago, albeit subconsciously perhaps, with the guys seeing each other socially. Stewart's movie added to this and apparently Sting loved Andy's book. Just a few months later in November the call came from their esteemed leader. The time was right at long last.
