Stewart: Coachella rumor - yea or nay?

So, early on, rumors were flying that the Police would play Coachella - So Cal's big music festival. So I bought a ticket on eBay just in case.

The rumors seem to have died out and the concert is just around the corner (April 27). I could use the money if I sell the ticket.

My dilemma is: do I keep the ticket on the off chance that the Police make a surprise announcment that they are playing there or do I sell my ticket in the next week or so?

It's too far for me to drive to use the ticket if the Police aren't going to be there. It's also too far for me to drive to just "show up" in case they decide to go on unannounced (or under an an assumed name like U2 used to do).

Suggestions?

I'd sure hate to sell my ticket and then two days later hear that they will be there!

I kinda thought that maybe they would do it as a "surprise" pre-show to the tour.

Well I'm only posting in the chance someone with a clue will come along...the rumours were really big before the Bonnaroo announcement and after that what rumors I have seen have been rather less substantial...that's just my opinion...I remember someone else here saying (can't remember who or in what context, sowwy) that Coachella and Bonnaroo do not share headliners in the same year and since the Police are confirmed at Roo, I'm not sure...anyone have more info on that bit?...however, I am somewhat suspicious about the Coachella lineup poster, which only lists Bjork on the healdiners line with a big-ass space on that line like as if there either may've been a back-out or they are still leaving it open for perhaps an on-going negotiation or etc...

Answer is I dunno, please find out more before selling, etc...but here's an idea that may help you...someone posted a thread on the TPT site claiming that they knew for sure that the Police were confirmed for Glastonbury and there was a few posts there back and forth about the rumoured Glastonbury performance but then PoliceHQ summarily stepped in and officially announced that they were not playing that festival and that the rumors were false...perhaps if you posted about the Coachella rumours there you may at least get a definitive "no" along the same lines if its an official 'no go' [unless its a 'surprise appearance' as you suggest...] or at te very least maybe someone there will know better...well...may be worth a shot... 8)

Thanks for the input Gina. Yeah, that's why I bought a Friday ticket. The other nights already had BIG headliners and Bjork is, well, Bjork. Even the die-hard Cochella goers were speculating that someone else would be added on Friday. But the rumors have really died down. Perhaps the Police had to choose between C and Bonnaroo and chose hot, humid Tennessee instead of hot, dry Cal desert.

Ya I don't think its a surprise about Bonnaroo, actually...Stewart rather fancies it and played it (Oysterhead) last year as well as a screening of ES:TPIO there...

best of luck finding an official answer re: Coachella!

OK - so I'm putting my Coachella ticket on eBay on Friday the 13th (that does not bode well). This is the last chance for Stewart to confirm or deny Coachella. ;)

<giggle> as events of today further indicate, TPT is pretty quick to put the kibosh on false rumors...maybe it'd be worth a try if you need quick confirmation 8) Best wishes to you!
